The jails are overcrowded so they're releasing prisoners early because of COVID outbreaks. No more room at the palace.
Jails in many areas of the country were overcrowded long before Covid which made a bad situation worse.
The suspect in this murder was arrested in 2019 in Charleston SC for firing a weapon into an occupied vehicle.
He was released on a $50,000. ( $5000) bail. He was never convicted and his last court date was nearly 2 years ago. Presumably, he left the state and violated the terms of his bail.
He has a long list of arrests for minor non- violent crimes over the past decade in multiple states. No convictions.
Not clear how this guy was able to post bail and move around the country, given it does not appear he had a visible means of support.

He may have some form of disability check or money from a relative...or just theft\panhandle\sell drugs etc.
Not only was she beautiful, but she was killed by someone that looked like a savage monster.
That made it stand out.
Reportedly, the victim texted a friend expressing how a man in the store was giving her a bad vibe.
If only she followed her instincts and immediately removed herself from the store instead of texting a friend. I am not victim blaming, here. Rather, those who are the sole employee in a retail store open to the public are vulnerable. And when one gets a bad vibe, there is nothing in the store worth protecting.
Back when I used to sit Open Houses, I twice walked out the door in my stocking feet when I got a bad vibe from someone. In both cases, the walk in fled out the back door and vanished. Nothing was taken.
Police never found either creep.
While a firearm might create a sense of safety, shooting based on a bad vibe has consequences.

I don’t think it was wrong to text her friend as a first step. Her friend may not have gotten the text right away but under other circumstances could have alerted someone.
Although, in addition to texting, if you are in that situation and your radar does go off, it’s good to get out as quickly as possible.
Who knows, she may have tried to do this but the criminal may have stopped her. A situation like that (and criminals like that) can be unpredictable.
The guy does not strike me as a garden variety, rambling, nonsensical, deluded mentally ill person.
He strikes me as someone who went out that day looking to kill someone. The other stores had multiple people in them so he searched until he found Brianna alone, where there were no witnesses. He stabbed her to death and then casually left via the back alleyway, stopping at a convenience store on his way out of the area. He knew exactly what he was doing.
Someone is helping this guy. He's been showering and washing his clothes somewhere. The police know who he is, now it's just a matter of someone coming forward to collect the reward money.
He is a predator. Being a predator doesn't mean that the person is mentally ill. He is evil. Some people like to harm others for the thrill of it.
I agree, but the question is, what did he get out of it?
What do any of these violent killers get out of hurting innocent people. Whether they are smacking a 70 year old woman to the ground at a bus stop, shoving a commuter into the path of a train or stabbing a young woman at her place of employment they are making a decision to take the life of a person.

Why, I do not know.
You would have to be the type of person that he is to truly understand.
