Over the years I've been on this site, I have seen many threads started asking 'which party is...' better, more concerned about the people, does more for the people, blah blah blah.

We all know Nancy Insider Trading Pelosi is profiting from her little career in Congress.

The left shouts about Republicans who do the same thing.

Both sides are right, and maybe it's time we stop picking sides, because this could not be any more of a slap in the face to each and every single voter:

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...-b2011612.html
Quote:
Alabama Republican Sen Tommy Tuberville told The Independent that efforts to restrict members of Congress from trading stocks, saying it would discourage certain people from serving in politics.

“I think it's ridiculous. They might as well start sending robots up here,” he told The Independent. “I think it would really cut back on the amount of people that would want to come up here and serve.”
Sheriff Grady voice: "Did you hear me? He thinks it will cut back on the amount of people who want to serve."

To the left: Don't get excited, because we already know people in the Dem party are doing the same, think the same, they just don't say it. Your party isn't any better than the Republican party.

For those who are confused about 'which party is better at...', here you go.

NEITHER ONE OF THEM!

Do you all get it now? They aren't there to serve you, to represent you, to listen to your concerns and do a thing about them. They are there to get wealthy.

They jet around the world while telling you to live minimally. They gloat about their fancy schmancy ice cream while you sit at home, not being allowed to go out and live your life, and after millions lost their jobs. They insist that you wear masks while they go party in Miami, or go to football games, etc, not wearing masks, taking photos of themselves, and never apologize for their double standards.

Both parties are full of ....

Dismantle them both.

The lifers need to be removed.

Term limits need to be implemented.

No trading while 'serving' (which they don't) the people.

Their job is not about them, it's supposed to be about us. But they have made it about them. They all need to be fired, by we, the people.

You want to start fresh, then stop voting for these people to stay where they have been for decades. Get new people who will actually listen to the people and work FOR the people.

They do not own us, like they think they do, they work for us. If they aren't doing their job, get rid of them, no matter who it is, no matter how long they've been there, quit fantasizing that people like Nancy, Chuck, this idiot, or any other politician actually gives a damn what you want.

They don't.

Too late.

People had their chance twice. First with Ross Perot. Second with Donald J Trump.
It's over.
The system will never be dismantled.... get used to it.

Term limits aren't coming.
Insider trading bans on Congress aren't coming either.
The swamp is here to stay.
The cesspool of corruption is what it is.

The only way to return the power to the people is through a Constitutional Convention.

You are right- Americans laughed at and scorned the only two presidential candidates over the last 40 years that were different than the uni-party candidates- Trump and Perot.

MANY voters liked to be deceived and lied to. When we have two guys who are not professional liars, the voters reject them!

We DID get Trump elected. He could have done MUCH MORE to drain the swamp while he was in there. In the end he was begging the Federal Reserve for lower interest rates and more QE, trying to pump up the stock bubble he criticized during his election campaign as something propped up by central bank stimulus.

How is that a person who wants to "drain the swamp?" ... he had 4 years and a republican majority during the first 2. He had some good policy, but you will never drain the swamp unless you drain it's money source. That means the bubbles will burst and there will be deflationary pressure. Either you accept that, or you accept that the swamp will be here forever. You can't have it both ways.

Maybe we can get enough states to do a constitutional convention, but you really think they are going to give themselves lifetime term limits and campaign finance reform and prevent the lifeblood of what sustains them which is donations from wealthy PACS? What of the old school republicans who thought the free market was all you needed? I thought they'd support these swamp creatures, since they ultimately got to where they are at due to our free market capitalist system along with central bank tinkering... the lines are muddied these days... more and more republicans see you can't just let wealth concentrate to the top forever... but that doesn't mean supporting marxism either... it will just be the same wealthy elites running things, doing all the things they tell us not to do like the hypocrites they are. The trick is keeping wealthy people (or anyone) from getting too much political power. That would require more checks and balances than we currently have.

We don't need, or want, a small group of 200 really wealthy people running the entire western world. What we need as a below post suggested are "outsiders" ... all too often these groups of elites get a hive mind mentality and groupthink and that's no good. Shake up that snowglobe.

It requires an amendment to the constitution to impose term limits. It requires 2/3 of all Senators and House Reps to vote in favor and then, 3/4 of states to ratify it.

The people have the ability to vote against incumbents.

Correct. If you want different results then you have to elect different people: outsiders.

America voted for a man with 5 decades of corruption, plus 8 as VP. Instead of shutting down COVID he’s handing out crack pipes.

I didn’t vote for Biden but other Americans did, and now we all suffer.

Campaign rhetoric does not match action.

A POTUS has zero ability to impose Congressional term limits. That has to come from 2/3 of Congress and then be ratified by 3/4 of the states.

Presidential candidates often, too often, project they are running for King and the masses eat it up. And in some cases, the candidates don’t grasp the limit of their powers.

I agree with you both but BeerGeek40 is right. It's too late. We had two opportunities and blew them both. I voted for Perot and Trump and I had very high hopes. Trump delivered a lot in his first term but the sensitive babies, the lunatic left, the swamp creatures and the race baiters made sure he would not be back. What a shame.

Two policies that would have popular bipartisan support. Policies that are popular with the people on a bipartisan basis are rarely supported by either party. They must enjoy the division. Can't think why.

All that is necessary is for 34 states to apply for a Constitution Convention.
