Of Americans that identify as sports fans, a whopping 52% of them say they follow the NFL.

However, of 16 to 25 year olds that identify as sports fans, only 33% identify as NFL fans.

It is also the worst drop off for old to young fans.

NFL 52% - 33%
NBA 42% - 40%
MLB 31% - 25%
MLS 13% - 12%
NHL 9% - 6%

1st % is the amount of ALL Americans that self-identify as sports fans that follow the league, the 2nd % is just for those that are aged 16 to 25 and consider themselves sports fans that follow that league.

On a sidenote, I didn't realize that MLS had surpassed the NHL.

With the horrible half time shows they are starting to alienate the older audience too. No one wants to watch 50-60 year old washed-up rappers.

Has anyone noticed how woke all the commercials have been during games? I can only imagine what the SB commercials are going to bring us.

As far as the halftime shows go in the last 10 years, that for me has been the MAIN time to step away from the TV. That's the time to check into the kitchen and make sure the ladies are all okay making the second half treats for the boys, give them a round of applause, and help where needed!

A DVR is a great way to watch sporting events these days.

Only like 4 of the 272 regular season games even show their halftime performances on TV, if you are watching to see the halftime show then you arent a football fan

Years ago the Super Bowl half time show was to watch. Now it is to ignore. I have been watching pro football since 1960.

NFL Losing Audiences...

My impromptu study of the issue says 100% of the responses above mentioned halftime shows and commercials.

What does it say when the main content isn't even mentioned?

That the course correction on too much time taken by referees looking at replays worked

And even with replays, the officiating is horrible.

As it has always been, part of life. The difference is today sports leagues worldwide stop the play because the recording technology exist.
