Why would Putin want to destroy the world? A nuclear attack by Russia would likely be targeted.
Because he's an aging psychopath and probably wouldn't mind going that way. Especially if he's received any kind of terminal diagnosis, as some have speculated. As I've said before, psychopaths will take out their own children to spite their spouse.
You forget about nuclear isotope radiation particles in the air. If blast don't kill you, radiation will and lastly lack of sun will.
Again research shows particles near the blast area are carried by wind, but will fall to the ground within. 2 weeks. Yes, there will be cloud cover for a while, but many are likely to survive, if they have stockpiled cans of food and water.

Lets use common sense for once, how much stockpiled cans of food and water would one need for 1 person to survive nuclear winter that will last 1 to 2 years? Not even talking about a way to keep the place warm being earth temperature will drop dramatically. What you're suggesting is not realistic.

You’re suggesting that the entire nation would be wiped out with nuclear war. Not likely to happen. Again it would be a miserable experience for most for a year or so, but many would survive.
Back in the late 80's, BBC made an excellent movie about what life might look like after a global nuclear exchange. It's called Threads. It was hands down the most depressing movie I've ever watched -- and I watched a lot, including all the nuclear Armageddon ones. What made it stand out in the genre was the detail it went into both about what might precipitate an all-out exchange, and its projection of how the world would look some fifteen years later. I keep thinking about that movie now, because the way it laid out the precipitating political events was eerily, spookily similar to what is unfolding in the Ukaraine / Europe now. The all-out exchange is preceded by months of increasing tensions, troop build-ups, finally one nuke going off... and then the rest.
I recommend the movie to anyone who wants to broaden their imagination about what the consequences of a nuclear war would mean. The filmmakers researched their topic. It is not a world I would want to live in.

I am suggesting that entre world would be hit with an exception of maybe Africa. All food that is grown needs sun, without it all of the crops will die. If Russia launches nuke, US will respond, China will pick side and respond, possible at the same try to invade Taiwan. At that point US would retaliate with nukes against China. Pakistan/India would also pick side and launch etc.

What makes you think that things would get better after a year or so? There would be a good part of the country completely obliterated with more parts unsafe to go into.
I would imagine that there would be widespread contamination of drinking water and toxic rain clouds. How much bottled water do you have on hand again?
