The jobs boom continues unabated!

Upward revision to January as well.

US added 678,000 jobs in February in sign of economic health
Quote:
U.S. employers added a robust 678,000 jobs in February, another gain that underscored the economy’s solid health as the omicron wave fades and more Americans venture out to spend at restaurants, shops and hotels despite surging inflation.

The Labor Department’s report Friday also showed that the unemployment rate dropped from 4% to a low 3.8%, extending a sharp decline in joblessness as the economy has rebounded from the pandemic recession.

Thank you, Donald Trump, for the vaccines allowing us to get back to near normal.

That was actually a good guess. The high before the pandemic was 152,504,000 jobs in Feb 2020. We're now at 150,399,000.

So, if we average about 500K a month for the next 4 months we'll get there.

It was 3.5% in January of 2020, I wonder what happened back then.

When it comes to private payrolls, we are even closer:

https://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t17.htm
https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/USPRIV

129,625,000 in Feb 2020
128,201,000 in Feb 2022

1,424,000 to go.

Looks like we should generally be back to pre-pandemic levels sometime in the summer ... provided the Ukraine war doesn't mess things up too badly.

It won't mean a thing with rising prices. I'm very cynical.

You'll need two jobs just to break even.
