US government spending increased every year that he was in office.

Me too, I have not been a member of any party since I first voted in 1973. In the 2016 and 2020 elections I left president blank. I will vote for the person I think is the best but if I don't like either I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils, and have to live with my guilt. It's unfortunate that I'm faced with that so often lately.
