I would vote for permanent standard time if I had a vote.
Why not put it on the ballot?
What ballot? A national ballot? I don't DC would feel comfortable letting voters decide issues. Voters might figure out there is no need for congress and vote to get rid of it.
Isn’t “permanent daylight saving time” just a redefinition of the clock? We were fine putting the 12 at the top of the clock; why move the numbers so that the 1 is on top? How is that going to create more daylight?
Daylight Savings Time was invented so that the sun would come up at (approximately) the same time every day, summer or winter. I heard a rumor it was done so that the farmers could milk cows, plant crops, and other such things at the most opportune time.
Of course one result was that the sun would go down MUCH "later" in the summer than in the winter.
I enjoy daylight savings. Only complaint is they adjust the date when it occurs like 15 years ago where now its occurs later in the year and much sooner where its more drastic of a change.

Daylight savings time was to save fuel energy, so office and public buildings wouldn't have to use artificial light to illuminate their interiors for as many hours.
But that's a completely false idea. Even at high noon, office buildings, grocery stores, schools, etc. don't turn off their indoor lighting and just use light from windows.
Lights are on all the business day inside buildings. Whether it's light or dark outside.
It's time to end this switching back and forth between normal time and daylight savings time. Please.
So am I! Why isn't that being considered by congress instead of permanent DST?
I think it's because Standard Time sucks in the winter months.
Nobody likes it when the sun sets at 4pm, by 3pm it's already dusk-like, or at least extremely long shadows (especially with the low sun angle and cloud cover).

Yet DST sucks in the summer where it gets very hot. DST was tried and failed decades ago so why try it again?
I haven't posted about this in awhile, but I am very much in favor of PERMANENT DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME, and very much against the alternative.
I absolutely hate the dark early evenings of all the months after we fall back into the pit of darkness.
