Yes, but you failed to mention how important Russian energy is, to many other countries!!!
I may not have made my point very clearly. Resource extraction is the lowest rung when you compare the sophistication of economies.("Banana republic" is a pejorative for a reason.) Russia isn't known for good engineering or a solid manufacturing sector or in fact any sort of capacity that one would expect from a 21st century great power, let alone a superpower.
They're Saudi Arabia with nukes. Except the Saudis generally provide better for their people.
They bought themselves massive influence in Western politics, and that was a shrewd move. But a whole lot of people are not returning their calls, now.
And Russia will now hand-wave an entire supply chain into existence, poof! They haven't been able to build a narrowbody airliner worth a damn. Or, for that matter, a car. Their navy is dependent on turbines made in - Ukraine. Their tanks use wheel bearings made in Germany. Even if they weren't in the middle of an ill-conceived war, it would take years, possibly decades to catch up.
I explored this topic better. The USSR produced very capable airplanes. It just didn't care much about fuel efficiency because jet fuel cost almost nothing there.
The aircraft industry was decimated by Boeing and Airbus that sold 20-year-old planes and bribed managers.
Now, as Boeing and Airbus planes are sanctioned, Russian engineers can design new planes without any competition.
By the way, the Boeing 737 MAX falls down because engineers cared more about fuel efficiency than safety.
Russian Ladas are actually rebadged Nissans. What can you say about the quality of Nissans?

Russia never produced quality ANYTHING. Except the arts, they have made some worthwhile music/opera/dance/literature. Not a profitable endeavor but contributes to overall society I guess.

And Saudi Arabia doesn't have nukes ( unlike Russia) exactly why?

Sounds like a high-end product. What's the name and maker?

And what does that tell you about Russian automotive R&D?

Because they're not a has-been pretend superpower coasting on their rep from the good old days when they could extract materials and know-how from a dozen vassal states.

Could Saudi Arabia, say, design something like this on their own ( without "has been pretend" and whatever else you are writing here...)

In fairness, their space program did well for a while. But when you lose a Proton-M rocket for the most Russian reason ever, it's bound to raise questions about QA.
(A technician tried to install accelerometers upside-down. They didn't fit, because they were designed to only fit the right way. So - he used a hammer.)
