Meanwhile conservatives think the solution is to arm Miss Jenkins the first grade teacher with an AR15.

Works for most.
I spent two years in the army, part of that in combat. Never met anyone who did not know how to shoot before they went in. But the poster I responded to said that all young men should be 21 to use a gun. That would that many in the military could not have a gun.

No, the liberals are saying it is impossible to “vet people”, so let’s restrict/ban gun ownership.

Conservatives are arguing for better mental health support, are pointing out the dangers of certain medications, and calling for a restoration of our society.

actually liberals are the ones wanting to (like hitler, and Lenin) take away all weapons from the population (this way they can CONTROL you)

and the NRA has even suggested that Mental be part of the background checks..... liberals refused citing HIPAA

1. do you think the NSA and the FBI don't watch the internet (social boards etc) for people making statements that would be construed as threats???

2. most conservatives and EVEN THE NRA have zero problems with background checks....easier background checks.....heck with today's technology a COMPLETE background check could be done in MINUTES,...too include medical (and a 'red flag' will NOT violate hipaa laws either)
it doesn't have to affect hipaa at all.... you go for a gun... instant 5 minute background check happens...comes back as code 99(or what ever)...."sorry sir, I can not sell this to you at this time, please check with the NSA you got this code (I don't know what the codes mean) you case number is this, please straighten out the issue before you return"

2a. better medical documentation and referrals. ..if some one has a mental issue..document it for jiminy crickets sake..... young adults like adam lanza should have been committed to an institution long ago...and had the doctors and his mother actually seeked help for the boy, he would have

3. most conservatives and EVEN THE NRA have zero problems ......more education, more training.......require some classes.....heck most of us, who LEGALLY own handguns have taken the CC class....

4. better communication between all of our alphabet/federal/state/city/local agencies.....that would help too, and not only about purchasing weapons, but all other things too such as missing child support, revoked licenses, voting registration, Lautenberg rules, medical mistakes(would it be nice if doctor A knew that doctor B prescribed this, so he/she can NOT prescribe something that will counteract/bad side effect medicine(to include RX(A) knowing that RX(B) filled dis,dat or the other ding, etc)))

5. over 50% of the homeless are Vets, and over 85% of the homeless are homeless becuase of mental health issues... yet the liberals NEVER address it

but to ban guns and to confiscate all weapons would not only be a violation of our 2nd amendment right...but also of the 4th amendment.......... the funny thing is liberals were all up in arms (pun intended) about "stop and frisk" saying it violated the 4th amendment.......hmmmm

liberals do NOT want to address the mental illness issue, because they understand that liberalism is a mental disease

Mental problems combined with guns. It's not one or the other, it's BOTH.

Crazy person gets possession of a gun that he has no business owning or even getting close to. The tough guys who obsess over guns can keep them. Maybe they really do need them if they live on a ranch or way out in the middle of nowhere. Your average suburban male does not need a gun; they are just trying to act like tough guys.

So that means there are a lot of guns out there--not just rifles for shooting the occasional rattlesnake, but military style guns and other types of guns that are not necessary. Those guns end up getting into the hands of someone with mental problems. It's the combination of the two.

Cal girl. Everyone is for better mental health support. That’s actually a liberal cause.
I haven’t heard many conservatives make mental health agencies and mental health a priority.

And no one in the private sector should own an AR15. Period.

The constitution is not a suicide pact.

Why?

What is your reasoning for that?

For one thing, why do you want to keep the population some 60-70 years behind in technology?

What is a "military style" gun? If you mean an AR 15, it isn't. And why can you decide what anyone needs?

In countries that require mental health evaluations, gun ownership/ possession is a privilege, not a constitutional right. These countries also interview family, neighbors, employers and peers for possible red flags.

Founding fathers could not imagine the types of firearms available today and that there would be people who viewed shooting as many random people as possible for sport, would be as frequent as it is today.
