Because the jury was deliberating on the wrong item. They were there to decide if Sussman lied to the FBI., That was the purpose of the trial, but they were debating on whether or not the case should have ever been brought to trial. A bought and paid for jury who was both ignorant and corrupt..
The democrat way...
The forewoman stated so in her post trial interview..

Sorry. Sussman presented Baker with computer links, in their meeting. SEP. 2016.

Trump wasn't damaged?
Did the FBI release any public information about their investigations of members of the Trump team prior to the election? No they did not. Those investigations actually led to convictions.

Everybody involved is crooked if the verdict didn't go your way. Got it.

It didn't help matters that John Durham is an incompetent Trump toady who totally humiliated himself by bringing a laughable case to court. A good prosecutor never goes to court unless he is 99.99% certain he can prove guilt to a jury.

He'd probably felt he'd had no reason to cover his own butt with the Trump investigation, like he'd done with Clinton.
Besides, like many, he thought Clinton was destined to win, that there was no way she would lose to Trump even with his little announcement of reopening her investigation.

You have to love an article about lying written by a person whose former employer complained about his tendency to write articles containing false narratives and omissions of key known facts.
