Not particularly fair toward veterans, don't you think? After all, as disgusting as some of the actions they did on behalf of the US military, most were conscripted by either the draft or personal circumstance that left them without options. Why should they hide and not be noticed?

By not allowing marriage for same sex couples, you are discriminating against gay people. Why do you insist on treating them differently? Treating a group of people differently from others is what discrimination is.

My friends do have equal rights. In fact they got married. I don't agree to a traditional marriage for gays but a civil union is fine. They never flaunt their sexuality and in fact you'd never know they were gay. They act and speak just like hetrosexual couples.
How do you and they think they got those rights?

You seem to have some sort of mental block and are unable to put two and two together.

Act and speak like heterosexual couples?

I do hope you tell them that you wouldn't be as supportive of them if they acted in a way that you find offensive. Do you let them hold hands or kiss in front of you...like heterosexual couples?

No one said sexuality is an achievement. What HAS been said is fighting for those rights and acceptance is an achievement worthy of celebration.

We are talking about human rights, not getting a new car.

There is a simple saying.

Equal is equal.

Why should people " settle " for less than?

The answer, is they shouldn't.

Gay "traditional" marriage has never been a human right if you think so then we just disagree on that.

The rights they have are rights according to our laws. It's nothing out of the ordinary. I disagree that a "traditional " marriage should be a right otherwise they have the same rights as hetrosexual couples do and rightly so. No need for personal attacks either. As I said, they don't flaunt their sexuality and most hetrosexual couples don't either. They don't hold hands and kiss in front of me but I wouldn't be offended if they did and they know it. We mainly meet for lunch with other people as we all use to work together but they have always had a special place in my heart because of their kindness and I have known them for 20 years.

It's not up to me. It's up to the individual states. I'm not stopping any gays from having a traditional marriage I just disagree with it. Am I not entitled to my opinion? How is that treating them differently as I'm not involved in their marriage decisions?
