no, what the role of the government is, is to provide people with information on how to minimize their risk of getting the virus, which includes but not limited to limiting exposure to crowds, hand washing, sanitizing surfaces, optional mask wearing, staying home if you dont feel well, higher risk if old/obese/comorbidity.. that is all the government should have done, provide basic information. the emotional unstable general public demanded that politicians “do something” or else accuse governors of “killing people” and having “no compassion” which is an instant career killer, so in typical political fashion they caved to the deranged and gave them what they asked for.

Gee, I always that the Democrats were the ones that were trying to shut down the big bad oil companies.

Still gobbling up that bait. Come on.

True in the first few days Trump did make us feel like we couldn't go anywhere.

Look our Republican Governor closed schools statewide because of Trump's mandates & we had some 11 cases -- none of them related to schools.

I love how folks are rewriting history.

Biden came to office in 2021. We were more open after that then we were all of 2020...but blame Biden....lol.

Leftists are the only ones who embraced Covid lockdowns and masks. Even today, they still wear their mask like a badge of courage.

Many people on the right were very angry from the beginning. The establishment dared Trump to oppose lockdowns, and sadly, after his first instinct was to do what Sweden did, he folded to the pressure.

He thought that if he went along with the lockdowns, that would be his best shot at re-election. Hindsight is 20/20, but he was wrong.

Indeed. I'd have a lot more respect for him if he admitted to his mistake(s). But alas, I don't think he ever will. Pride was his downfall.

More stupidity and the left mindlessly believing whatever they're "told."

Let's take a look at the biggest oil company in the US, for example... ExxonMobil. (This is ALL publicly available info from the required quarterly and annual SEC filings.)

Exxon Mobil's profit margins
2021: 8.04%
2022 Q1: 6.25%

For comparison purposes, 2021 annual and 2022 Q1 profit margins...

Kraft/Heinz (food)
2021: 4.04%
2022 Q1: 12.84%

Amazon
2021: 6.91%
2022 Q1: -3.30%

Walmart
2021: 2.39%
2022 Q1: 1.45%

Apple (iPhone, Macs, iPads)
2021: 26.42%
2022 Q1: 25.71%

Google (Android Cell Phones and other Devices, Chromebook)
2021: 29.71%
2022 Q1: 24.17%

Many have INSISTED that a computer and cell phone are necessities in today's world, even for the poor. So... Which is more greedy? ExxonMobil? Or Apple and Google?
