This law in SC outlaws abortion after which a fetal heartbeat is detected. Mothers will be given an opportunity to view the ultrasound and see the development of the fetus.
In case of rape incest, the fetus would have to be less then twenty weeks. IMO, if you are raped wouldn`t you want an abortion ASAP.
Wonder how many women would change their minds after seeing their ultrsound, and hearing a heartbeat.

SC has a population of 5 million. In 2020 there were 5000 abortions in SC.
I don't think the law will make much of a difference.
The heartbeat law is weird because it comes from the same folks claim a zygote - fertilization - is a complete, actively growing human with rights, and certainly that it is alive. But with the heartbeat law it basically assumes it isn't alive until the heartbeat starts...that doesn't make any sense.
And then the rape thing apparently assumes the fetus was never actually alive yet and won't be until 20 weeks? Yet non-rape fetuses are alive after the heartbeat? But not before...or wait...they are...or...not...Kinda depends, sorta, whether it's fine, or literal enforceable murder...

It is all nonsensical.
It makes sense to allow government condoned death. That's why.

Okay, but it only makes sense to allow government condoned death before a heartbeat? Unless it is the product of rape in which case it's okay all the way up to 20 weeks? But in any other fetus or embryo that's murder?
With the logical inverse being: if abortion is that awful to some people, let those people move to a state that forbids it.
Because it doesn't make sense.
The ones most impacted are the ones that will have to travel to get their abortions and pay for the travel themselves if their company doesn't pay for it.
So it would be easier for them to just move.
