What these armchair historians often fail to say, however, is that President Reagan’s support for amnesty was part of a compromise that his congressional counterparts reneged on. In exchange for amnesty, Congress was supposed to fund and enforce the other half of the deal to make it unlawful to hire or recruit individuals illegally residing in the U.S. The compromise would have required employers to attest to their employees’ immigration status.
Even in the 80's that was unforgivably naïve on Reagan's part.

This gem you've written here is about the same as a Pole saying on September 2, 1939 that there isn't a problem at the border. No invasion. It just makes for nice politics.

That's what compromise gets you from demoncrats. Lies-lies and more lies.

I still think a rubber bullet shooting gallery the minute they walked into the Rio Grande would be far more effective.

Every country gets to defend their borders against an invasion, and that is exactly what's going on at the southern border.

That is not deportation. What? Are they going to all sit on the US side in Del Rio and Laredo? What happens next?

I’m tired of half measures and actions that don’t do anything except give someone a phony talking point.

They should all be dumped in Mexico, where they crossed from.

Actually, the border should be sealed, but that’s another problem
You cannot seal a land border the length of the border between the US and Mexico. It's impossible. And, unless you want to stop all cross border trade with Mexico, there will still be hundreds of thousands of crossings of that border every day, which means there is potential for illegal things to happen.

The border is not open.

I guess giving them free rides to D.C. with taxpayer dollars wasn’t working?

Someone has to protect our Country and orders. Biden is certainly not doing the job he took an oath to uphold.
What are you going to do, start shooting anyone who is brown? Your numbers are not anywhere close to reality. 250,000 per month implies 3 million people a year coming into the country, and that is not happening.

Border closure is not a force field... it's a delay, much like any wall.
