Jimmy Dore is a YouTuber/Podcaster/Comedian that is on the left politically, but calls out both sides a lot. I had a friend that is on the left introduce me to him, being a stay at home mom, I have a lot of time to listen to things like this while tending to the babies or getting stuff done.

In 2020 I was super ecstatic to vote and even started a thread on CityData with how excited I was. It was my first election and it was exciting and I was going to make a change by voting for Biden. I was raised as a Democrat.

Anyways....Jimmy Dore points out that the Democratic National Committee has donated 30 million dollars to extreme MAGA republicans, thinking that it makes the Republicans look bad and will help Democrats in the general election to run against an extreme candidate.

This seems so awful and such a bad idea for the Democrats to push extreme Republicans forward. Hillary's campaign helped elevate Trump in 2016, thinking that they could beat him easier. How did that work out? The Democrats donated so much money to an extreme Republican in Pennsylvania that he won his Republican primary and spent less money than the Democrats gave him. Democrats would also run PAC ads focusing on the positives of extreme Republicans in their primaries.

All the Democrats are doing by doing this is dividing the country further.

Then...Pelosi of all people, knowing that Democrats are funding extreme Republican candidates tells Republicans that it is their responsibility to clean up their party. Well, Pelosi, that is hypocritical when you are making it worse in their party.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lCzwDXrGZ4

Then you see Democrats saying that they stand for democracy and elections, while simultaneously doing everything they can and flip flopping on specific issues to keep green party candidates off of the ballot.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn1nQCEr5JU

I was told that Trump caused all of the problems. Take away the pandemic year and everything, everything is worse than it was in 2019.

It is all just so slimy. Filth and corruption. I am sure Republicans do these dirty tricks too.

How is a young voter like me not supposed to go from excited about being able to vote to cynical?

Democrats are trying to put forth whom they see as the weakest Republican candidate so they can win. They actually did that with Trump in 2016... oops... didn't see that coming...

I know people see as extreme right wing around here - but I'm really not. I don't care about party politics in general.

My problem with Democrats is their platform wants nothing good for the country. Obama's slogan - CHANGE. Change to what? Hilary's slogan - I'm with her. Well, what's she going to do? Their political commercials are about fearing the opponent - not about how they will make things better - because they don't want to make things better. You can listen to them in their ads. They mainly promote fear of the opponent - racist, bigot, homophobe, liar, etc.

Instead of campaigning on a better America, they do shenanigans like you mentioned. That tells me that they know that most of America will not like their platform - because they don't campaign on it.

Keep your eyes open QB - and keep your trust in God who is sovereign. You will be fine... but most of the politicians from both sides will disappoint you. It is what it is.

I see an independent voter affiliation in your future!

As someone who is your age, I can understand your sentiment, though, I do not share it. I am a registered Republican, solely so that I can vote in my state's primary elections. In my opinion, primary elections are more important than general elections. If terrible candidates win their primaries, then terrible candidates will be elected to office. Being cynical does not change anything, but being proactive about choosing the right candidates in primary elections will.

By the way, the Democratic Party got the Green Party kicked off the 2020 Election ballot in Wisconsin, too. Had they been on the ballot, President Biden, likely, would have lost the state... If anything, THIS is true voter suppression...

Couldn't agree more.

Democracy is at stake! They scream, while trying to take the Green Party off ballots.

The GOP regularly does the same with the Libertarian party.

A two party state is not a great place to be IMO.

I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t call out their own side regularly. That’s why I trust people like Jimmy Dore and Tucker Carlson.

Leftists who don’t watch Tucker Carlson would be shocked at how much he constantly bashes many Republicans in the House and Senate.

As far as Jimmy Dore, I started watching him when he wasn’t afraid to stand up to his own party and admit that Russiagate was not only a hoax, but that Trump was right all along about the witch-hunt. Which means a lot to me, because Jimmy Dore hates Trump and would never vote for him in a million years.

Yeah, you may be in for a journey. Let's just say a lot of former dems are out there. Some switched to R, and some swore off both parties (I'm the latter).

(BTW, it's strange that the Majority Report is cited in opposition, almost algorithmically, by new accounts. Often they disappear, so it won't be clear what this comment is referring to... Anyway, it only takes a few minutes investigation to see that Dore's claims are much more verifiable than Majority Report)

Been a fan of those two for awhile. They stick to their guns when it comes to their beliefs, their policies. Like you said, they go after their own.

I don't know.

You definitely did a good service to remind me to keep a more open mind.

I don't know. I think he believes much of it. I just can't stand his personality and how petty some of his political attacks are.

He did do an interesting piece against a billionaire hedge fund guy that I appreciated.

What do you think of this piece:

On City Data I was called something of a leach by some Republican posters, because I qualified for and took free school lunch and breakfast. After my mom did, my dad became an alcoholic and couldn't hold a job down. Our finances were horrible and he had big expenses. We lived below the poverty line for a time. In high school, I worked a job to help pay bills including clothing for me and my little brother and food for at home and to help pay the electric bill. I am not smart, but my grades did go down a bit working a lot, at least I believe.

To get called a leach or a drain on society for being a minor getting free school lunch when we were struggling really hurts. I believe that supporting a strong social safety net is a "pro-life" position.

I'd have a hard time supporting a party that has a large contingent that doesn't even support free school lunch for the poor.

I pay it back. I do a lot of charity and community service. I am married to a man with a large income and he pays his taxes. And some posters still had a problem with me taking free school lunch in high school.

Do you see my point?

The entire Democrat Party is just smoke and mirrors. There real intent is to take down the USA and implement a new Global World Order.

They rely completely on division, hate, triggering emotions, brainwashing young minds full of mush, creating fictious crisis to attain power for implementation, everything they accuse someone of they in fact are doing.

Creating a problem(or what you perceive to be a problem) for your opposition, then blaming your opposition for that problem is good old fashioned dirty politics, something Pelosi has always excelled at.
