Since Petaluma’s decision, four other cities in the Bay Area have followed suit, and now, leaders in California’s most car-centric metropolis are hoping to bring the climate-conscious policy to Southern California.

It opens a new front in California’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and already is generating opposition from the fuel industry, which argues consumers would suffer.
Reading the article further, it contains statements from people who had no problem with banning new gasoline stations, because "we have enough already".

Boy, these people so naïve and nearsighted... They act like their electricity does not come from "fossil" fuels... If you are truly concerned about the environment, the type of automobile you drive should be the last thing you are concerned about, given that they make up one percent of the entire world's pollution...

Oh yeah ban the building of new gas stations and heap regulations on the rest of them which might force some to close when they cannot afford the computer controlled triple lined storage tanks.

We get it that the Left wants everyone to drive EV's and those that can't afford them, which is a majority, get a bus or subway card.

What these idiots are failing to realize is that it takes like 5-10 minutes to fill up your car with gas while it takes 30-60 minutes + to get a charge on your EV. Where do all those Ev's park when they are charging up? Most cities already have major parking issues and the EV's will only add to it.

I can't help but think about what a soft target for a predatory criminal a parked and charging EV is. The owner is either milling about killing time, inside surfing the net or napping.

It really is crazy how the Left comes up with these schemes like banning gas stations and don't really think things through.

The left's end game is to eliminate cars completely, well except for the ruling class. This is just one step in their overall process to get there.

Every "Greenie" knows that electricity comes from the electrical outlet or charging port. It just magically appears, so stop spreading false information.

The Left/Democrats will do stuff like this but then when the topic of why gasoline costs is so high there, the Leftists will deny they have anything to do with it and will blame everything else.

This ought to work out well.

Global reset anyone? Test case is California. Things really seem to be going well there, don't you think?

That's true enough. You should see some of the crazy laws we have on the books here. It's enough to make you do this more than a few times. Trouble is, they're focusing on the wrong thing when it comes to dealing with climate change.

They think banning this and banning that will work, meanwhile they chew up precious farmland and open grassland areas by building homes, pouring concrete and asphalt which only adds to global warming. I expect things will get worse as we lose more trees to wildfires. They aren't re-growing fast enough. It's really sad to watch it happen.

We have enough gas stations. What we need here is less people.
