The federal government (especially when controlled by the left) is like a vicious organism unto itself. When cornered, it will attack in order to preserve itself. I really don't think the left will allow itself to be knocked out of power by an election. They will do whatever it takes, violent or otherwise, to retain power. First line of defense would be to unleash their anitifa and blm goons again. And it escalates from their. That is assuming dominion can't make up the difference at the voting booths.

If anyone can change the settled result of an election, our democracy is at risk. Remember, some folks sought to throw out millions of ballots in Michigan! How can we have a democracy if not everyone's vote is counted and we select a chief executive through mob rule?
In order to understand the Left, flip everything they say 180 degrees. What they are really saying is that Democracy may succeed and Communism/Socialism/Fascism is at risk. They don't want legitimate elections, they want elections that can be manipulated to ensure survival of the Establishment. They don't want every legitimate vote to count, they want every illegitimate vote to count.
