A three-judge California state appellate court ruled on Tuesday that bees are in fact “fish” protected under the state’s Endangered Species Act.
In 2019, the California Fish and Game Commission motioned to protect four different bumblebee species facing potential extinction, prompting various agricultural businesses (almond growers, citrus farmers, cotton ginners, etc.) to file suit. The growers argued that the California Endangered Species Act (CESA) did not allow for the designation of insects as endangered due to the fact they were not listed in the categories of wildlife when the law was first enacted.

That’s because the snail, the commissioners note, does not even live in the water and was categorized as “threatened” in 1980. The way the snail got on the list was by being classified as a “fish.” Since the bristle snail is a terrestrial species, the Commission argues, “fish” cannot be limited to animals that inhabit a marine environment.

This could be a full time job, translating Breitbart articles into reality.
The Fish and GAME Commission is now considering protecting vital insects that are necessary to our agriculture and are endangered.
For those who don't know, bees are essential to our agriculture. If we lose bees, we're in a world of hurt as far as growing food crops. We will starve. Forget this economy, if we wipe out bees, we will literally starve.
Anyone who actively works to stand in the way of protecting bees, please spit out your food and step away from the table.
Breitbart.
Judicial branches are not supposed to be legislating. Sounds like a poorly written law. Nobody is against protecting bees, but, they have still classified bees as "fish", which is not biologically correct... and the purpose of discussion in this thread.
Anyone else see the danger in arbitrarily changing the definitions of words to help make laws suit the government's purposes? Even if the intentions are good it sets a bad precedent.

I agree 100% bees need to be protected, this should have been done well over a decade ago when it became clear there was a huge problem on the horizon. But that means legislators need to write a new law or amend the old one, not that judges omnisciently declare bees are no longer considered insects.
