Disaster declarations are typically more about allowing certain rules or suspension of rules to come into play and less about immediate existential threat. There have been years when my home county has technically been under a disaster declaration from about May (wildfire concerns) through October (hurricane concerns) even though we never had either of those come anywhere close to here.

Approx 1.7 million "immigrants" in TX right now, so we should be getting around 240K NG any time now?

Actually, I've exaggerated, I didn't factor out the number of immigrants that have been bussed to other states, my bad.
And BTW, why do they specifically need NG? Aren't these folks ALL peaceful immigrants?

Why would they need soldiers to help out in these Sanctuary cities? I thought all these "migrants" were decent kind hearted people that just want to come to work and pay their taxes (and vote Democrat)?? Shouldn't they be calling up counselors, immigration lawyers, translators and everyone else to help these poor downtrodden folks that have been used and abused as political pawns in a game of All or Nothing with the stakes being the future of America...?
If a Sanctuary city can't handle 500 "migrants" then how can a state that doesn't want them handle hundreds of thousands?
