If I'm forced against my will to pay for it, it is not optional and I am forced to participate. Simple as that.
You will only get the benefits if you get sick. You want to get sick?

How about everyone save for their own healthcare and they can benefit from their own money whenever they want?

This weird obsession with giving your money to some faceless bureaucrat who then inevitably pisses it away is kind of sickening in and of itself.

The problem with that is you will go bankrupt. Who can afford to pay out of pocket for chemo or surgery. Or what ever else that comes along. Healthcare is expensive especially when we get older. Are you willing to spend all your retirement on healthcare

Because most people cannot save $100,000 to $1,000,000 just in case they need major surgery or cancer care. And don't forget, you would somehow have to ensure you have those savings set aside BEFORE you get sick. There is no predicting when during your lifetime you will need that healthcare money that you think everyone is capable of saving on their own.

If you don't understand how insurance works (everyone pooling their money so the ones who need help can get care) then I can't help you.

BTW unless you are getting healthcare from the VA or a military hospital, the government is not providing health care.

That is because we do NOT WANT universal fed healthcare.

DUH!

If the repubs take over BOTH houses we probably WILL see bills to eliminate much of ocare.

But Trump said there was a plan. Are you saying he was lying to us?

No he wasn't lying, he was just overwhelmed with the complexity of our current healthcare delivery system which is the worst in the western world. Another words I believe he felt he got in over his head once he dived into it and had to come up for air in which time had run out.

How to tell that the person posting has never had to pay for a direct healthcare expense out of pocket....or understands how "insurance" works...

No they won't because they haven't been able to come up with anything else to replace it. They just like to complain about it because it has the "O" word in it.
