Conservative commentators who are typically Donald Trump's allies turned on the former president after he went after Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Saturday.

Trump mocked DeSantis as "Ron DeSanctimonious" while discussing the 2024 Republican presidential primary at a rally in Pennsylvania. The pair is widely considered to be the top contenders for the Republican nomination, though DeSantis has offered no indication he intends to run. Commentators called out Trump for creating division in the ranks just three days before the midterm elections.

"DeSantis is an extremely effective conservative governor who has had real policy wins and real cultural wins. Trump isn’t going to be able to take this one down with a dumb nickname. He better have more than that up his sleeve," wrote Matt Walsh, a commentator at The Daily Wire and a leading voice among social conservatives.

Cant the narcissist wait three days until he starts attacking Republicans again lol? Trump is jelly because he knows Ron is a rising star in the conservative movement and will upstage him soon can't have that.

I love Trump but I’m a DeSantis voter if Ron runs.

I have said before, that the Democrats best hope in these mid-terms is Mr. Donald J. Trump.

It goes to show that Mr. Trump cares not for the Republican Party. He is literally attacking Governor DeSantis days before the election.

Even Senator Ted Cruz, the other day, complained about how Mr. Trump has 100 million in his PAC, but won't spend it on helping Republicans.

It is a 'party of Trump'. Not the Republican party.

Either one will be fabulous. Love them both. Amazing how they both stir Dems up.

Mistake by Trump. DeSantis isn't going to challenge him should he run.

On the other hand if next week isn't the landslide Reps are expecting and most MAGA candidates... lose.

Trump will remain on the sidlines.

If Reps have a big night next week esp. MAGA candidates it will be difficult for Dems to spin Trump doesn't have a clear shot at winning in 2024.

Well, at the Miami rally tonight Trump told everyone to vote DeSantis for governor and Rubio for Senate so the so-called rivalry is probably just conjured up.

Definitely. He just isn't thinking.

Shot himself in both feet when he should have been trying to repair the damage done by his inexplicable promotion and support of the COVID "vaccine" long after it was clear that it was useless and dangerous.

Both of these major blunders reflect poorly on his priorities and judgement generally.

If Trump were ever to get his personality disorder fixed, he'd be much more helpful to the country.
