Americans realized we live in a very dangerous country so crime isn’t as important as other things do just make sure you are careful. Republicans nor Dems can do anything about that. You want safety move to Europe or Canada its much safer in most of those countries than it is here. At least there children can go to school without being shot up. America is a third world country with a gucci built on.
On the surface, the question 'seems' reasonable. But that is not how crime and perceptions of safety works.
If you narrow the election down to the area where the crime is most prominent, then you have NYC new mayor Eric Adams who was elected because he promised to be tough on crime. But for a governor, the entire state votes, and not everyone is equally affected by higher rates of crimes.
NY is much closer than it should have been for the Democrats and will likely be less than a 5% margin when it's all said and done. I'm disappointed that Zeldin didn't pull through, but I was proud to support and vote for him.
it’s how i felt when i lived in NJ. my voice was not heard. the legislature is overwhelmingly democrat so although 2 republican governors have been elected since y2k it doesn’t really matter. i can only imagine NYers who feel like their vote doesn’t matter will continue to move to red states making NY bluer than a fresh corpse.
