Could not agree more. Here are my thoughts.

In my opinion, the next "black swan" event is Biden’s leaving office before the end of his term. We will find out whether or not Kamala Harris is as bad as she is made out to be. Either she rises to the occasion or implodes. The GOP needs to become more than a regional or extreme party.

Eric Ericson, a leading GOP pundit, states (link) what I have quietly believed: "GOP, You Must Be Done With Trump. This has to be a key takeaway.Ron DeSantis, Greg Abbott, and Brian Kemp all did very well. They did well as their own men in their own right. The voters thoroughly rejected trump (sic)-backed candidates. In Pennsylvania, it is undisputed that Trump’s endorsement of Mehmet Oz pushed Oz across the finish line in the primary, and Pennsylvania would rather Fetterman than Oz. Trump really owns that one.The pattern is too noticeable. Trump-backed candidates were very, very weak and many of them lost."

The GOP needs some RINOs back. Zeldin was good, but not good enough. Also, I think the Dobbs decision did a lot of damage and I said that last June when it came out. Waging "culture war" helps no one.

Pretty much my experience. I'm more likely to see anti-Biden flags, not pro-Trump. There is a difference.
Until last night the assumption was a "Let's go Brandon" sign was a Trump voter. Trump basically just got assassinated from his role as party leader.

Lesson learned from 2023 mid-term hamster exercise:

Umpteenth triumph for US oligarchs in these inconsequential “elections” who win when they win and win when they lose no matter who “they” are.

Business as usual.

I don’t recall that. Do you have a link?

I do recall Trump claiming election fraud in 2016. He was upset he lost the popular vote. From an article dated August 2018:
Quote:
The now-disbanded voting integrity commission launched by the Trump administration uncovered no evidence to support claims of widespread voter fraud, according to an analysis of administration documents released Friday.
Quote:
Republican President Donald Trump convened the commission to investigate the 2016 presidential election after making unsubstantiated claims that between 3 million and 5 million ballots were illegally cast.

1. I do agree with you black people will never leave the democrat party. I am black and my family listens to everything they say and they think democrats is our friend.

2. They need to make Donald Trump go away. He's not a popular president and the Jan 6 is still hurting him. Republicans need to stop asking him to come make speeches for them.

3. Don't talk about abortion. The country is against you on this. In fact change your stance.

4. Make sure Ron DeSantis runs for president. Please make sure

5. Republicans need to stop trying to clone Trump. Stop crying about the election being stolen in 2020 and arguing and calling the news fake. Nobody wants a wanna be Trump and thats whats hurting Kari Lake.

Trump could run and after a bloody fight with DeSantis still win the nomination. But last night showed Trump will have a hard time winning in a general election. DeSantis is the candidate for 2024 and I think this morning Trump see this.

But will he still try and run? I don't think so.

I agree. As a person who's in the middle, I too see things on both ends. It's time to start voting for neither D or R. Time for a new party to start being elected. Maybe then things will change for the better. We all see how voting R or D has been affecting ALL of U.S. (us too)

As a conservative, I would hope you'd focus more on the content of one's character than on the color of one's skin. For a Democrat, Tulsi Gabbard isn't half bad. But I'd rather have DeSantis. Not because he's a white man, but because I think his policies would be better for the country than Gabbard's would be.
All things being equal, people will gravitate to people who look more like them. And it most definitely not limited to blacks by any stretch of the imagination.

It's a big reason why multicultural/multiracial societies never work long-term.

Yep, Cubans are completely different from Mexicans (and Puerto Ricans).

Even among Mexicans, "castizos" are different from those with more "indigenous" admixture.

The title of this thread is "Lessons learned from the 2022 mid term elections"

I think the GOP message of inflation, crime and border security won them the house. The Democrat message of Democracy is in danger keep the election deniers for the most part out of office. As a Democrat I think this election worked out just fine. The left lost the house because of the current status of the nation but those who are willing to put their thumb on the scales were soundly rejected. Democracy worked the way it was intended.

Another lesson learned, take public health precautions seriously.

A significant population of Republicans were lost in Red states due to dying from Covid. A lot of you reading this right now know someone who died from it and probably didn’t believe in masks, vax, etc. That’s a lot of Republican voters lost to help the party.
