1957?
Ya wanna see REAL racism & prejudice?
Here...try this...people running the Country, in the mid 90s:
The most racist legislation in the last 50 years is the 1994 Crime Bill...authored by Joe Biden & signed into law by Bill Clinton.
It killed and stripped the freedom, liberty, and possessions from hundreds of thousands of Blacks & minorities.
Most of the problems that BLM & the Social Justice Protesters marched against can be traced back to that legislation and Joe Biden & Bill Clinton. https://youtu.be/YTJuTSg7Cbk
Clinton also signed the Defense of Marriage Act...stating that "marriage is between one man and one woman" and blocked Federal recognition of Gay Marriage.
Something different and exciting going on and most 14-year old's will be there watching, no different than kids running to watch when they see fire trucks headed to a nearby fire. You've pegged him as a card carrying racist simply because he was there and watching the angry guy with the cigarette in his mouth. I guess if you, as a kid or an adult for that matter, had gone to watch firemen put out a nearby fire then that means you're an arsonist, right?
No, read my post. You apparently know with certainty that nothing malicious was going on with Jones because he wasn't in the front row, and he had no malice on his face. I am simply addressing the absurdity of your reasoning. You are implying you are only a racist if you are in the front row (ya know, even racists can get to violent demonstrations late and not end up in the front), and you can tell when someone has malice in their mind/heart based on the expression on their face.

I was responding to someone who was claiming he was at the front and leading the racist charge. He wasn't.

So. Honestly. I would LOVE to see a moderated conversation with these two old men. One extremely successful through oil and gas, and then buying the Dallas Cowboys, and the other, a member of the Little Rock 9. With Megyn Kelly moderating.
My home room teacher stood before the class and said "I will quit my job before I teach n------".
Understandable since we were in Lamar High school in Houston. It was the school for River Oaks kids. River Oaks as well as many places throughout the country were deed restricted to white Christians. A jew could live in River Oaks if they were married to a Christian. Sundown laws were in eggiest all over Houston. Most Houstonians thought Dallas was worse.
There were plenty of whites who knew this whole Ji, Crow was wrong from the start. But we were vastly outnumbered.
Anybody who thinks Jones is getting a bum rap will surely never ever bring up Robert Byrd and the KKK.
DH has had a copy of that Rockwell painting of New Orleans resident Ruby Bridges in his office since right after it came out. Just a reminder of how cruel humans can be. And as reminder there is always the remnant.
The reason he was recognized by the WaPo is because he was front and center. A face in the back of the crowd wouldn't be recognizable.
I would suggest a visit to your ophthalmologist if you think he was "front and center", as your depth perception seems a bit off.
The ONLY reason he was recognized by the WaPo is that someone was so determined on making a point about his "racism" that they had to retrace his life back over 60 years to find ONE photo of him at 15(well actually still 14..he wouldn't be 15 for another month).
You want the guy really front and center. Let's find out where the teenager with the cigarette is...OMG smoking in High School. Things sure were different back then.
If any of you youngish people want to know what life was like in the USA back then, listen to Tom Leher's first and 2nd recording.
Fifteen years later Kinky Friedman showed us not much had changed with "They Ain't Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore".
The satire is a picture of the times.
