Greiner is one of those who can't appreciate what she has living in a free country like the USA and hopefully she's learned a few things in captivity but I doubt it. She was told repeatedly not to carry drugs by teammates. She's responsible for her own situation.

That's not the question (Remember Paul McCartney busted for pot in Japan?). The issue is why do conservatives make this a comparison of a Marine vs. a black lesbian athlete? Why mention that she is black and lesbian except to cast aspersions on those categories?
In the broader sense, how do you judge who is worthier of being brought home? Conservative commentators do not compare their crimes.

First of all, she was arrested with legally prescribed medication. Then the other two factors are something which lower her value in the eyes of conservatives? They care less for blacks and lesbians and find such of less value than a white man? The answer is obvious.

2) She is a lesbian
3) Her "legally prescribed drugs" are ILLEGAL IN RUSSIA and SHE KNEW IT! (Plus, the hash oil was not prescribed. No doctor in the US can prescribe a Class l narcotic. All a doctor can do is issue a medical marijuana card, if in this case one was ever issued!)
Now, as for her value being lowered, that was HER POLITICAL ADVANTAGE to get a Get Out of Jail Free Card

Griner never knelt for the anthem. White nationalist propaganda. She did say that she did not think they should play the anthem during games and if they did she would not be there until it was over. Free speech. The right hates free speech. Personally, I think this national anthem playing at sports events is jingoistic nonsense and would be happy to see it stopped.

I think she's ungrateful, but being critical of the current state of things isn't the same thing as being un-American, except in, among others, the minds of some of the people who think they are conservative (and may or may not actually be conservative).
