They'll shut down the national parks...everything else will be business as usual....unfortunately.
That's basically how I see it.
shutdowns are horrendously wasteful exercises in political theater. The contingency planning, the accounting shell games, the non-stop legal wrangling. A good chunk of the employees including all executives are considered "essential staff" so only the lowest paid staff get furloughed.
As ridiculous as it sounds, we might need the $1 quintillion dollar coin in the mint to pre-empt the games of brinkmanship. It would save taxpayers a large amount of money.
I say let it be shut down. The question is when it is shut down does that mean that all the payouts to foreign countries stop as well or is just We the People that will feel the fallout?
Most foreign aid is a money laundering kickback scam meant to enrich the top 1%...especially DC politicians.
Americans may learn I'm right if the Biden Family Crime Syndicate investigation turns out to be real, and not a charade.
So...no...foreign aid will keep flowing, so the kickbacks do not get interrrupted.
I see every day the fed gov't shuts down, even partially, as being a great day for America.

Add in defense contractors. Much of that foreign aid is predicated on purchasing American made weapons. It's a way to keep them in business. Then the defense contractors donate to the politicians.
I give this fed govt ten years tops before it’s gone. The shutdowns or considerations thereof are just indicators of its failing.
