It's just really, really sad how blind some people are. Anybody who thinks Florida is still going to be a tropical paradise with 40 million, 50 million or 100 million people isn't living in reality. And it matters not one bit what political party has power there. Housing prices will skyrocket and homelessness will increase, natural areas will decrease and become overcrowded with visitors and filled with trash, traffic will become horrendous, crime will go up, and so on and so forth. The fact so many people are cheering on the paving-over of Florida with endless subdivisions is the epitome of short-sightedness.

Homelessness need not increase, nor crime. Those have nothing to do with population but in local laws. A lot of big cities around the world with little crime/homelessness. Look at Singapore.

The picture probably get deleted. But feels like 114 degrees on our empty streets today, where its a normal very busy intersection. This is three weeks of this heat. Let them move here. See how long they last

And if Florida followed Singapore's lead the people in this thread cheering on the "freedom" in Florida will pivot to calling Florida a fascist police state.

But Singapore is a tiny city-state so I hardly think the analogy would work anyway.

6 million people. Just about every American city with a much smaller population/density has more crime and homelessness. Not to mention Singapore is more expensive than just about all American cities.

The point is, crime and homelessness are the result of local laws and not a consequence of urbanity or population. In fact, most homeless gravitate to cities with friendly laws towards them and good weather and a lot of pedestrian activity so they can ask for money.

And Florida has more than 20 million.

Again, if Florida adopted the laws of Singapore, the conservatives on this forum would be lambasting it for being an oppressive police state.

Thats what we thought was going to happen in California but here we are California is seeing population decline. Why a number of factors including the high cost of living and of course taxes and also the housing situation there. Florida will eventually price itself out where it will be difficult for buy homes. That's why I bought one two years ago I retire in about 9 years ( also have a house outside Phoenix). Can't wait to get out of Illinois.

It’s not just cost of living or taxes. Technically for the last few years real estate hasn’t been all that hot in California anyways. Lots of “good” deals if you go by 2019 expectations.

It’s when you leave your nice condo in say Santa Monica and treated to nothing but a scene straight out of Mad Max with homeless who stink a mile away everywhere and anywhere constantly harassing and getting their way. Crime in general is out of control. And politicians seem more interested in pandering to Woke causes than keeping citizens safe and happy.

Sounds like California!
Sounds like you're suggesting we close the southern border? Less illegals, less population growth, less paving over of areas!

Or the megalopolis of the northeast. Y'know, it used to be really nice up there, before the population swelled to 100 million in the BosWash corridor.
