I'd rather be fired by email....then I could skip any 'exit interview' or that kind of time wasting nonsense.
Some yrs ago I worked at a company that had a massive restructure and forced people to a new role or be fired. They had several let go and they had company vehicles. They had several cabs waiting to drive them home.
I wasn't let go but the whole thing was so dystopian in a way. The culture at the company just completely changed after that. I left shortly afterward.
I've had to interact with that company on projects over the last 5 yrs or so and the quality of the people and service is just dismal and unacceptable. I attribute it to that core restructure. If I said the company name many would recognize them.
Demand that everyone make $15/hr, and eventually there will be fewer jobs that pay $15/hr.
Basic cause and effect economics still remain a mystery to some.
$3.85/hr for me back in the mid 80s when I was in high school. No one complained.
The perk was making triple cheeseburgers or double quarter pounders. They used to have McDLTs at that time - not sure if it was nationwide. I thought those were great... doubled the meat on those also.
They want them out of the Corp Office when it hits the fan this week.
We might find out how it goes down. I bet at least some get cert mail. Makes for good proof of notification in court when the trespassing arrestees get sorted out. $8.34 per, well spent.
To be honest, Mcdonald's didn't want to pay the $7 and change either. I remember when the change from 5 to 7 occurred, that was the same time Mcdonald's started limiting sauces and napkins to people and reducing staff.
To be honest I don't think Mcdonald's wants to pay anyone in their stores hence why they are testing Automation in stores.
It's not just McDonald's.
All companies have to operate with overhead costs in mind.
You can't just keep on raising the cost of doing business and not expect it to top out somewhere.
There's a limit to what people will pay for a Happy Meal.
In the US there's probably less than a thousand that are corporate owned.
And that doesn't even matter - they're most likely not closing any McDonald's locations. They're laying off at the corporate level - not restaurant level.

All because they have to pay $15/hr or more to a high school kid who hands you a burger and fries at the drive thru.
At least McDonalds hasn't gotten to the point of pressuring for tips for such services.
