Easy. The thing with bureaucrats is that over time, the bureaucrat is tired of being just a bureaucrat, a cog in the machine. So when there is a chance, I will exercise whatever authority and power I have in the purview of my expertise. I can even do it selectively. For my relatives and friends, I can remove some bureaucratic barriers for whatever they want, but for those I do not like for whatever reasons, I can put up as many bureaucratic obstacles I can creatively think up.

Trump galvanized the deep state in ways no other Republicans does. And yes, as much as I personally dislike Trump, I do believe in a 'deep state'. When I was active duty in the USAF, I heard of something in the Army calls the 'E4 Mafia'. Then I found out the USAF have something similar except they are E5s. If NARA hates Trump enough, they can, and I believe they would, make Trump's life as difficult as whatever bureaucratic power they have at their disposal.

The special counsel, in the indictment, says two of the documents concern nuclear information and had classification markings (count 5 and 19).

The President cannot declassify that information, so he cannot use that former authority as a possible defense against having those two specific documents.

Mr Trump allegedly retained them after being asked for them, and allegedly conspired to ensure they were moved from the location he had his lawyer search, just before the search.

If you haven’t read the actual text of the indictment, I recommend you take the time to do so.

The “Deep State” is nothing more than what used to be known as “Rule of Law.” It’s no wonder that Trump hates it. It has, indeed, made his life miserable, and is likely to make it a lot more miserable during the next couple of months.

NARA Would have had no beef with Trump if he had simply returned the missing documents. They were discovered absent on May 6, 2021, and Trump was contacted about returning them several times. He finally returned 15 boxes, and it was then discovered that there were classified docs mixed in with other papers.

There were still documents missing that should have been under the sole control of NARA since January 20, 2021. Trump was subpoenaed and produced another small quantity, but not everything that had been identified as not in NARA’s files. Corcoran wrote a letter stating that everything had been returned and got Christina Bobb to sign it, since she had not taken part in the search and would have plausible deniability that she signed it because of what she was told. Corcoran knew better than to sign it.

On August 8, 2023 Mar-a-Lago was raided and, IIRC, 57 boxes of documents were seized. At last report there are still documents that have not been returned to NARA.

It was never anything personal. NARA was simply doing its job by the book, and went out of its way to give Trump a chance to work with them. Instead, Trump chose to arm wrestle with Jack Smith, which is looking like a world class blunder for Mr. Trump. Had he simply done what was right and returned everything immediately like Mr. Pence and President Biden did, this could have turned out well, and Trump could be happily pursuing a second nomination with nothing else on his mind. It looks like all he is going to be catching is an orange jump suit and a bit of hard time in the Big House.

Watching these Trumpsters do verbal gymnastics to defend this moron is laughable. Trump lied to the FBI and his attorneys but somehow it's someone elses fault. It has been made clear time and time again that once he was no longer president he had no right to any of those documents even is he magically declassified them by osmosis. The documents belong to the government which he is not longer a member. All these whataboutism are not admissible in any court. Now the fool is doing a interview with FOX and digging the his hole even deeper. I'm sure his attorney advised him not to but Trump being Trump thinks he is smarter than everyone else. Even FOX is saying he is toast after that interview. This would make a great movie because it is shocking how anyone could be so stupid.

I posted a hypothetical situation based on my USAF time on how Hillary Clinton should have been indicted and that post was deleted to protect Hillary Clinton. In essence, Hillary Clinton was not charged based upon the spirit of the law, but when for Trump, he must be charged based on the letter of the law. Maybe you know what am talking about. But now that Trump was intimidated into returning the appropriate docs, why not let him go?

As much as I dislike Trump and did not believe he was temperamentally fit to be president, it did not took me long to see that for the bureaucratic state, everything about Trump has to be personal.

And yet Obama Biden Pense and especially Joe Biden and then Hillary who had a huge slush fund with foreign money put in there who sold 20% of the uranium to Russia and no one batted an eye Do you know we are full of communist money takers in DC? They want to get rid of Trump for that reason because they were all bought off by communist China and now they got Trump in there and oh my, it could break out big for what they've been doing .These Democrats who are bought off by socialist marxists.
There is so much corruption they have to keep anyone like Trump or DeSantis out of DC. The media is even bought. They're taking over our children's minds and have been for years. I have a family member who was kicked out because his thesis said that Thomas Jefferson was a conservative. He took it to court in New York City and of course ruled for the University by three very liberal judges..

It goes right down to the grassroots of America. The power of these leftist liberals have permeated all the universities the media and they've been doing this for decades now. One has to be strong-minded and not brought in with this brainwashing scheme all over mainstream media so the corruption can continue.

Post here is word salad of all kinds of unfounded conspiracy theories and cultural hatred. Classic whatabout on steroids.

This tells us much more about the poster than the reality.

The Truth here is that Trumpies acknowledge the guilt of Trump, they can never say he is innocent because they know better, they just try to make excuses like 'everyone does it blah blah' or 'leftist liberals blah blah' and that makes his treason seem ok.

Maybe there are some nondisclosed locations, but a quick Google search confirmed where I believed they are.

Then too, we know where other ICBMs are when a boomer is in port.
That's quite the defense of Trump, we should leave documents laying around because everyone knows what's in them.

Even if that were remotely true the fact that Trump claims he could declassify secret information indiscriminately without informing anyone should alone disqualify him from ever being president again. I guess he forgot to remove the jackets by the way when if he declassified them as he claimed because they are still in the Secret and Classified folders.

We listen, and we have also been watching and laughing at folks such as you, who only care about getting trump, however, as long as the folks you agree with and they cooperate when they disregard regulations, it's all good.

Those were not his documents. Even if they were declassified, they were documents on military and nuclear secrets. In no universe does an ex-president have any right to keep military and nuclear secrets as his own personal mementos.
