Maybe fifteen years back when I was visiting my mother in San Francisco. She lived across the street from San Francisco State University at that time. Notices had been posted around the campus warning of assaults taking place during the evening. I went to the campus security office for more details but told the race of the suspects wasn't relevant.
So I asked if race wasn't relevant why then do the notices in the parking area warning of car theft mention Asian suspects?
The officer couldn't and wouldn't answer me.
When they refuse to tell you the race, they are telling you the race.
They use the "mentally ill" trope to imply it's not his fault. That way no one can say the guy's actually a vicious racist and they won't have to attempt to charge a black man with a hate crime.
And I'm just going on past instances of these things. The victims are more often than not white or Asian woman. Easy targets.
I'm so sick of the mentally ill excuse. Obviously he's mentally ill but he was mentally well enough to realize what he did and run for the hills. Mr. Jones has an extensive rap sheet and is well known to the police-so why is he still walking around? People like Mr. Jones are beyond redemption and there shouldn't be any more effort to rehabilitate him. The best way to deal with the Mr. Jones types is permanent incarceration, hobbling to the point he's a threat to no one or elimination.
One day, Im going to play a game of "guess the race of the suspect" and actually surprise myself when Im wrong. Today is not that day however. Oh well.
When they refuse to tell you the race, they are telling you the race.
And how fair and racist is that?
