NY Times Opinion piece today:
It Hurts to See Biden Imitating Trump on Trade
Quote:
Waving the flag as he heads into election season, President Biden is opposing the acquisition of U.S. Steel, a once-great steel maker headquartered in Pittsburgh, by a bigger and stronger Japanese company, Nippon Steel. “I told our steel workers I have their backs, and I meant it,” Mr. Biden said in a statement.

If Biden's decision at this point to go against Nippon Steel acquiring U.S. Steel significantly helps him in the polls, then I say it is the right move. After the election, Biden can promote the acquisition. If he goes that route, will Japan really suffer that much?
Consider that America is in a lot of trouble right now, and we don't want Trump getting re-elected. Republicans will probably win the Senate in November. Democrats need to win the House.
We need to be pragmatic. This is not business as usual. With Trump the proven threat that he is -- and he could win again in seven months -- we want to dwell on a topic like this one now?

@Blue Moon Exactly! Biden must mimic Trump to the fullest extent possible so that Trump won’t be elected as President again.
