After verbally abusing passenger who would not surrender his rightful window seat to her son because she said so, flight crew solved issue by upgrading abused passenger to business class.
Personally would have told Ms. Karen and her son to go pound salt. But since the guy was given an upgrade you'd think that would have solved the issue.
A few things you left out of your summary, even though they were in the article you quoted and cast an entirely different light on the outcome of the incident:
Quote:
The flight attendant threatened to have the mother and child removed from the aircraft, she threatened to sue, and another passenger unleashed a profanity-filled tirade at the woman. Finally the captain came out. She claimed to have “touched inappropriately.” The captain asked the family to exit the aircraft, and the woman threatened to sue him “SO BAD YOU’LL HAVE TO LIVE IN THE STREETS!”
The mother was ejected. The window seat passenger stayed in business class.
IOW, the stupid woman was treated entirely correctly by both the flight attendant and the Captain. She was booted off the plane. (I assume her son was also booted, so that he could stay with his mother.)
well....'membe 'home alone' and when it came out in time for the holidays and was uber popular and uber family friendly?
we saw it, first weekend of showings at the galleria theatres in the mall near poughkeepsie NY after dinner, with IBM friends, after work on friday. a planned event.
the theatre was one of the first to do pre-show tix so we all got our tix over lunch as we oft did the food court for lunch (looking back - ewwww)
so we eat dinner, get there, select our 5-6ish seats and wait, eating most of the popcorn before the lights dim - required by law right?
place fills up fast, but its not sold. there were perhaps a dozen seats or so, but scattered 1 here, 1 there...
a woman, husband and 2 kids comes in during the opening pizza scene, with an usher to help her find 4 seats together.
but as the usher is clearly trying to calmly whisper...there are seats just not near each other.
the woman wanted the audience to the equivalent of a shuffle sort (<---hey I was at IBM, forgive me for thinking in CS problem solution mode...), stop the movie, up the lights etc.
OBVIOUSLY that cannot happen so she wigs out screaming "WHY WONT THESE PEOPLE MOVE!!!"
imagine the glares...I never actually caught the opening lines of why kevin got sent to the attic until it was on HBO NEXT YEAR. the staff took her out and gave them a pass for free grub and tix for the next day matinee, which they took.
Seems like Americans have decided the easiest way to cope with self entitled bullies is to let them have their way. I still prefer telling them to sit down and hush.
