I have a feeling that your mind would change had someone very close to you been raped or murdered. I pray that you never have to know that pain.
I used to think think this was true. My mother and grandmother were killed in a murder suicide and while the guy gave himself his own punishment I have an aunt who still does not believe in it. She say she wishes they would rot in prison for the rest of their lives. She seems to think that they are more miserable there than if they were killed. IDK I still think that the death penalty is a great tool for punishment. IMO.

I watch that show Lock Up on MSNBC and trust me the death penalty would be easier then what they deal with in prison.

My heart truly goes out to you.

You made a good point. People are going to believe what they are going to believe.

It cost to much for us taxpayers to keep them in prison.

That's true. The problem lies in the fact that they get out of prison too often and too early.

I agree it does cost alot to keep them in prison. It costs even more to have them on death row. I am not saying you are wrong for believing in the death penalty at all. I Pray I never have to feel that pain too.... but it won't make my pain go away if the person is put to death. Innocent people are put to death too.

I can't answer the poll question. I get labeled both liberal and conservative depending on the subject and who I'm dealing with, so I really can't choose any of the options.

However, I do not favor the death penalty, I fully realize that the parents of these children would want to kill the perpetrators, probably with their bare hands if given the option. But I don't agree with the government putting anyone to death. The most deranged and subhuman criminals should be thrown into a small, concrete cell with no windows, no tv, nothing but themselves. Prison guards will not be required to break up fights between inmates, food would be minimal, their existence would be hell. If they find a way to kill themselves or each other, that's great too. Sexual abusers & child rapists should be castrated as well.

I didn't vote b/c I don't call myself either. But I will say this, I am totally FOR the death penalty in the case of pedophiles and ANY rapists (not for date rape but the brutal, premeditated variety). Especially those who hurt children. They don't deserve to live. Period. I just wish they would carry out the death sentences on all the scum sitting on death row now. For those of you who empathize with the criminals and think the death penalty is wrong, don't worry. They only execute about 1 per year if that so your precious criminals will be sitting in jail on our dime for a long time to come.
