Seems to me that the people who think abortion is killing babies should think that any other time the baby dies in the womb, the mom should be charged with involuntary manslaughter. I mean miscarriage due to the mom drinking, doing drugs, competing in boxing matches, etc. Is it possible for the mom to screw up so much that she's found negligent?

Thoughts?

Default Logical

That sounds very logical. Maybe the local PD could launch investigations into the womans behavior/habits leading up to the miscarriage. Doctors would have to report them, since most women wouldn't volunteer the information that they were no longer pregnant. Records could be subpoenaed, grand juries seated...

Miscarriage is not generally caused by the mother; but rather by a defect that would by natural selection not allow the child to be brought to term.

I don't consider typical abortion to be murder...although I vehemently disagree with late term abortion.

But I think the subject of this thread is silly.

Who would ever consider the death of a wanted baby in the womb to be manslaughter? That's just ridiculous.

Why would you think that?

Not logical at all. Its a play in words.

1st degree murder is premeditated, planned, thought out.

Involuntary manslaughter is accidental death through negligence.

A miscarriage while can be reasoned premeditated or caused by negligence is not in itself so. A person who has a miscarriage often has no control over its happening.

This seems more of an ignorant attempt to throw something back into peoples faces who are against abortion to be honest. Not logical at all.

Yeah, well, what about the people that don't believe in God. What is he doing, punishing women for their sins with miscarriages or something?

How are we going to know which are the natural miscarriages, and which ones are intentional?

OK I should have been more clear in the OP. I meant miscarriage due to the mom drinking, doing drugs, competing in boxing matches, etc. Is it possible for the mom to screw up so much that she's found negligent?
Added to OP.

Nope. Look at all the crack addicts and athletes having kids. Women who are in car crashes carry children to term while the mother is in a coma for pete's sake.

Blaming a woman who loses a wanted baby, for behavior that probably didn't cause the death of her baby is just plain cruel.
