If you are going to lump them all together as a group , as in the union mentality, then one would have to say yes they are generally overpaid. If you look at them on an individual basis however, there are some that are very underpaid and others that are grossly overpaid and should be fired!

what planet are you from? I have NEVER had a 40 hour work week, but at least I had a year round job. most teachers huh? I guess the 3 teachers close to me are just out of the loop. I didn't say they didn't eat lunch with their classes, I said it was a paid lunch. a luxury not given in most jobs.

May I add that homework, tests, projects can't all be graded in a 'free' time...that' s homework for teachers. Add to that comittee work, parent meetings, continuing education...it's NOT a 40 hour workweek by ANY means.

teaching requires a bachelors degree. you know what the starting salary for a cop or a fireman is? not this much. yes, 40k-45k for a part time job is more than fine. not every job is designed for you to make a million bucks. if you want to make a million bucks, don't teach.

No,,, what I am saying is not required...
You dont need a bachelors for a fireman or a policeman...
19,000 for a person with a GED is plenty of money...
35k for a person with a bachelors is not a lot of money...
especially when others bachelors start much higher...
