Same thing...
mullato, comes from the spanish word mulato,, meaning mix one black and one white...
Criollo was used incorrectly by spaniards for any person,, that was born outside of spain..
Meaning, even if your parents were white but born in the caribbean then you were criollo

yep, I knew a woman from Lousiana reffered to her whole family as coon ass!

Think Waterboy. Those were straight up coon-asses.

Visited some clients of my fathers up in Mamou Louisiana when I was younger. I could barely understand a word they were saying.

Must be regional because around here and among many people I know elsewhere, coon is a term for blacks.
