Yes Texas has prospered under George W. Bush at the expense of the rest of the country. This has happened before in the late 1970s and early 80s. When oil busted in the mid 80s Texas' economy crumbled and it lost businesses.
Yet much of the growth has nothing to do with energy. The companies relocating are financials, retail, aerospace, and high tech. Sure 30 years ago the economy was extremely dependent upon energy... but it's a different story today.

The jobs didn't "leave" and go somewhere else, the company shut its doors because it couldn't compete because of the high employee wages and benefits. The employees were warned this would happen if they voted in the union but they ignored it. So they had better benefits for a year and now they have no job OR benefits because they were too lazy to negotiate their own salaries/benefits.

Once again, if the workers were faced with wages they could not make a living on, then WHO CARES that the cheap company left town. You need to grab a calculated because you just don't understand the SUM. If your wages don't pay the bills, you don't get to live there anymore anyway. If your paycheck involves the word WAGE then how can GREED be apart of your life. Your not greedy to want to afford Suzie's Braces, and feed your family at the same time. I know that there are people like you who just don't have this figured out, but there really are people out there that just want to stay afloat.

Who ever said that they couldn't make a living? Who said that they could afford Suzie's braces before? Maybe they just wanted to drive a BMW instead of a Toyota. If you don't know their circumstances, then you need to quite making assumptions.

Maybe you shouldn't make assumptions either. You know what they say about glass houses, then again, if you don't have a decent wage, you probably live in a low income glass apartment. I suppose you feel that wage earners should only get what YOU feel is just. If your not a republican, I suppose you in denial. By the way, what "wage" level do you feel is greedy.

My 2ND point: I have seen plenty of plants (NON UNION) that closed up shop and left for 3rd world countries. They were victims of the min wage, which I'm guessing you oppose too. Everyone should be making .80 cents a day, so that Amaznjohn can feel good about America.

I think you better rethink who are the greedy people ??? read your post again!! and where did the companies go? I'm sure the workers indeed wanted ''FAIR" wages BUT the greedy CEO'S wanted slave wages and took the company to a slave state or country!

Try reading it again... he said the owner closed the business he was mentioning. How are you so sure that the workers wanted a fair wage and that the owner was greedy? Sounds like you enjoy oversimplifying things to the point of hyperbole.

It's remarkable to me how many people seem to have this idea that just because a business is a business, the leaders of that business are getting rich...

Tell you what, guys - go start your own business. You're not satisfied working for "the man" and getting paid slave wages? Become the slave master. Put your money where your mouth is and demonstrate to the rest of us how it should be done.
