Now, mind you, this 67,000 number doesn't include 'bagger sympathizers...but still. It looks like Faux News and the rest of the wingnut media have been inflating the Teabagger numbers..

Quote:
Patchwork Nation, which was launched by the Christian Science Monitor and funded by the Knight Foundation, arrived at 67,000 by poring over publicly available information to identify people who actually registered with Tea Party organizations.

Glad to see you accept the findings. Here's something else interesting regarding Tea Party membership:

Quote:
As one might predict, the two community types with the highest percentage of African-Americans score lowest in terms of tea-party membership: the big-city “Industrial Metropolis” counties and the less-wealthy “Minority Central” counties.
But, but....I keep hearing from the sympathizers that there are plenty of black Teabaggers..

And aren't those the areas that lean far to the left to begin with? I wouldn't expect as many opponents of big government there.

Come, come.......your numbers are way too low. There are surely more than 67,000 gay men in the country who indulge in "tea bagging".

I think that Upton's sources also report dozens or hundreds at Tea Parties regularly when other people say thousands and sometimes tens of thousands. Yep, these numbers do cause troubles. Yesterday I posted a quote from the Washington Post in which the writer said that there were tens of thousands at the recent (April 17) rally in DC. The problem is that he was there interviewing Party members so could estimate the size of the crowd better than most sitting in their offices.
