That only proves that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

For lack of a better name than Communism or Fascism I use "Crony Capitalism" where the politically connected big investors are protected from financial losses by the government which taxes the less fortunate with long term debt or inflation.

This system does not work any better than theoretical communism or fascism.

Real market systems do work but no businessman or investor wants to take the chance of failure inherent in an actual market system.

I have lived in both USSR and USA, and let me tell you - it's not so simple. America never represented perfect capitalism, especially post-FDR. It merely represented the "long dog-leash" means of social control, as opposed to the Soviet "short leash".

Let a slave keep 50% of the wealth he creates, and he will work harder. Spend some of the 50% you take away from him on welfare and roads and stuff, and he'll work harder still, more than making up for your expenses. Finally, brainwash your slave to think he's free, and he will strive to find the best job he can to make money, and make his slave-master (government) tens of thousands of dollars a year, compared to a couple hundred dollars that an uneducated slave working in the fields may bring. A stable society can even allow freedom of speech (for as long as those speaking truth to power can be easily marginalized) and democratic elections: the greater the illusion of freedom, the more prosperous the society can become.

All governments are evil, it's only a matter of degree.

The USSR was always "broke". The number one reason why it failed (and I lived there at the time) is because it couldn't keep its ideological charade going any longer. The so-called "cold war" is the reason it didn't happen a few decades earlier - it was a Machiavellian scam that benefited both sides. My father worked for the Soviet version of the "military-industrial complex", I know the original bomber designs came in inches...

By the 1980s USSR didn't have the excuse to isolate itself from all international influences 100%, and when western culture managed to shine in through the cracks it was clearly better. They could no longer control the public opinion of a significant minority of young educated urban-dwellers, and the dissent was spreading fast, especially in the Baltic states.

The hygiene habits of communists, the color of one's blood, nationality, and even union membership are irrelevant. (Unions are only bad when the government gets involved, without it they're harmless little clubs.) Capitalism is the natural organization system for any society that has achieved division of labor - anything else can only exist through violence.

OK--you're right and everyone else is wrong. So will everyone who has a problem with this please leave the country? Excellent! Now the rest of us can get on with our lives.

This is madness, this is insanity, they have more than doubled the American national debt in one weekend for a bunch of crooks and incompetents. Are we ever going to wake up!

It's not remotely related to communism. what we have is socialism for the wealthy and capitaslism for the rest of us. The rich get their wealth protected at everyone else's expense, while working Americans are left to compete with 3rd world labor markets.
