Secondly, the above story is a very good example of Obama's share the wealth except that in Obama's version it is the federal government who decides who will receive the money which usually is the politicians and their friends. Conservatives, in general, have no problem with charity as long as that charity is voluntary and not government mandated. I don't eat at restaurants that automatically tack onto the bill a tip for the serving crew. Either pay the servers at least minimum wage or don't pay them at all. I'll tip a server based upon his or her service. Tips should never be mandatory.
If you read my post you'll notice that I said you should tip 15% if you receive at least average service. If you go to a restaurant and get awful service, not only should you not tip, you should complain to a manager. While I agree that the server shouldn't have worn that tie, it was wrong to take it out on him. He/she was probably some naive college kid who didn't think that through. As far as company rules go, what if it was a local owned restaurant? There's no legal reason a restaurant would require its employees to stay clear of politics (although that is common sense).

The system is messed up. Restaurant owners have a great deal-they get basically free labor from servers and pass their pay obligations on to you, the customer. This is not fair to either party. So take it out on management instead of a server.

Charity? Tipping is NOT charity (unless you give over the standard amount).
I run into your type alot, and nothing I say is going to change your mind-you would have to actually work at a restaurant to understand. Please continue to not visit restaurants.

Heh... I am smart enough to be an a**hole after the meal is consumed, before the meal I am sweet as pie. Plus I check my food thoroughly or watch it be made.

It's not my fault they are making minimum wage and it certainly doesn't entitle them to charity... especially if they give me a lackluster attitude. They better put on a hell of a show if they want additional money from me.

A mandatory tip is stupid in the first place. Service charges should be incorporated into the meal/drink price and made known to the customer any additional money on top of that is what I would consider true tipping.

Yep, but same principle as spreading the wealth.

If you frequent the same few restaurants, trust me, it is known you don't tip.
Check your food??! At first I was mad at you but now I'm just laughing-I'd love to see you at a restaurant with a date "wait a sec honey, I need to stir through the soup and check for foreign substances". Very classy.

Where did you get the idea of minimum wage? When I was serving I made $2.13 an hour at a chain. Of course tips included it was more like 15-20.

I actually agree with your last part, I think restaurants should automatically tack on service charges and make it known just like its done in Europe.

P.S. what do you mean by putting on a show? You want a merry ol ***? jokes? singing? something more erotic?

More of the "It's All About Me" attitude. Like the restaurant is lucky to have such a self-made man sit at one of its tables to start out with...

I tipped people (and I wish that I didn't have to tip other people - poor service, bad food, etc. etc.) but I do it because it isn't a "right" for the server to be tipped... even though, I think many liberals think it is a right... it is a privilege... I give it out of the kindness of my heart.. however, if they decide to increase my taxes, I will tip less maybe 10% or even less... liberals can bite the hands that give them money.. I will adjust accordingly... like I say to everyone, I am a gracious charity giver, I pay income taxes every year and consider anything over 25% as "charity" since that IS what it really is all about... mandatory "charity" or income redistribution, etc. etc... all of it "theft" really... the more I am taxed, the less I will give... I will spend less and shelter more, the unintended consequences of socialism..

Ok how about this one socialist liberals.

A man drives to work, in his SUV and drops off his 2 kids at daycare. Total charges for daycare 25,000 per year. He makes 87k per year before taxes.
We works in the IT field and works overtime on weekends and is a contractor. Bringing this greedy weathly man more money of about 100k RIGHT LIBERALS. Getting straight time for overtime. He is taxed for income tax, state tax, local property taxes of 5,700 per year SS tax and is paying sales taxes. So after all the taxes and daycare that he has to pay he has just enough to pay for his home, car and food and clothes for his 2 kids. Under every plan Obama or McCain he will be taxed because after all he needs to pay his fair share right? When was last time any of you really sat down and looked at how much your government is stealing from you every paycheck. While they waste your money, your freedom you are stuck with the bill.
Obama and McCain are both poor examples of BIG government ideas. Start demanding they take no money from you.

Normal Americans can all agree that the government is and always will be broken no matter how much money you give them. In fact the more money they have the worse it gets. Plus no matter how you package socialism, stealing from me is WRONG I have a responsiblity to myself and my family to provide, protect and survive. Not be a slave to a system that promotes waste, abuse and moving my money from person to person. You can not promote fairness with more government and stealing!!!! Fairness is keeping what you EARN and create with your mind, your labor it is not the governments job to move your wealth, money or housing to fit the needs of the dependants and criminals.

Talking Twas the night before election

'Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up & down!

I, in my bathrobe
With a dog in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
And saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give it to others
Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money
And quick as a flash
Jumped back on his bandwagon
With all of my stash

He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!

'On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi'
He screamed at the pairs!

They took off mumblin' muslim
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
That wouldn't stand up and fight!
