All of this hysteria over guns is puzzling to me. Obama has repeatedly said that gun control is not the role of the federal government-it's a state/local issue. Between myself, my father, and my grandmother (who currently holds all of my deceased grandfather's firearms) we have quite an arsenal of rifles, shotguns, and handguns. We are a family of hunters and will continue to be long after Mr. Obama has left office (hopefully not until 2016)-why is this so hard to understand?

I also own a couple of firearms and I voted for Obama. He knows that restricting gun sales will not effect the criminal use of guns but would only serve as a rallying point for the right.

I'm in the same boat. All this 'gun regulation' bs is ridiculous... my family has plenty of guns, we plan on buying more and we go through the proper, legal channels to get them. What's the big deal? If you're being legal and smart about it then there is no need to worry.

I was a police officer but I have never liked guns much. I am more of a martial art guy!

I did NOT vote for Obama because of ideological, philosophical, and political differences... guns was not one of them. But the second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is part of our Bill of Rights and was influenced by a fear that the federal government would dis-arm the people in order to impose rule over us using the standing army or a militia. We need our gun-rights to remain with us and not to be messed with!

I do not like guns... but I will pick one up in an instant to defend our right to have them!

I'm a gun owner, a hunter, a Veteran and a big time NON-wasp....

I voted for John McCain.

I do NOT believe B.H. will keep his word....Sure he SAID all sorts of things...but his VOTING RECORD says something quite the opposite.

Someone forgot to tell him that. See the thread in the election forum on the gun bans. Everyone who knew his record on it though aren't surprised.

Once again, Obama will leave gun laws to the states/municipalities. Do yourself a favor and pay attention to your state legislature/town council's gun control policies.

Think again:

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

Urban Policy | Change.gov (http://change.gov/agenda/urbanpolicy/ - broken link)

He also supported while in the senate banning concealed carry nationwide.
