They don't need 60 seats, they only need 60 votes. How long do you expect the Maine ladies to play along in a partisan plan for regional obstructionism?

Pelosi has been the most effective Speaker since Tip O'Neill, just as the right-wing Hate-o-Meter would suggest...

I'm hopeful that the two female senators from ME will at least vote DEM on key measures, if not outright switch parties, that would be the icing on the cake.

I don't really care... I mean.. party politics as usual.. When you're the majority.. you get to step on the minority right? seems to be the norm lately in america.. and seeing as how I don't particularly care for republicans..and keeping in step with recent traditional american principles... I say good.. lol

Washington is "control freak city" and the Democrats are running out of control. I expect it to get worse once Obama is in office. It will probably last about 2 years and then the public will correct it again.

And by most effective, you mean most inept, right? This most recent congress has been the WORST governing body in the history of the US, as evidenced by their 9% approval rating. Right wing hate-o-meter has nothing to do with it...even democrats don't like them. To suggest otherwise is impressively ignorant.

Pelosi Erases Gingrich's Long-Standing Fairness Rules
by Connie Hair
01/05/2009

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi’s proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.

Pelosi’s rule changes -- which may be voted on today -- will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America.”

In reaction, the House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes to House Rules this week that would bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress. These procedural abuses, as outlined in the below letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, would also include the repeal of six-year limit for committee chairmen and other House Rules reform measures enacted in 1995 as part of the Contract with America.

if this does not polarize republicans to actually band together and fillibuster each and every bill going through congress, then nothing will.

This arguement is silly.
It seems most Democrat liberals dont even realize that Bush is a liberal. He's been oozing liberal tripe for 8 years & they hate him because he's not a Democrat? He's the best friend a democrat ever had. If not for him Pelosi & Obama wouldn't be in power.

Neither should even be eligible since they support things contrary to the constitution. That they were elected is compelling evidence of the gullibility & nonchalance todays voters display in choosing a candidate. Right & wrong dont matter, ability & experience dont matter. Its more like routing for the home team.
