Worry about unrest over the new president, probably. They must know something they don't want us getting upset over. But Cerberus Capital Managment is buying up all the gun and ammo manufacturing companies. That is scary.
Or maybe they just want to stockpile ammo for a shooting war in the middle east or asia.
You can own and bear guns you just can't buy them or have ammo for them.
It seems that for most of you, the enemy is other Americans. Will you defend yourself when your neighbors are starving or will you learn the art of cooperation? Will the future be every-man-for-himself or a realization that we're all in the same boat?
The reason why you're finding it hard to buy these things is that worldwide shipping of products is at a standstill. Singapore harbor and Long Beach harbor are filled with boats that cannot unload their products because people aren't buying. In the long run, our defense contractors won't be able to get their raw supplies and our military will be left empty-handed. Are you all going to say that only people with guns should survive? And what will be the quality of that survival? What type of world will you create after you've shot everyone else who doesn't think the world should degenerate into savagery?
There is no issue with people not buying ammunition and firearms related products. It's being bought up as fast as it's put on the shelves.

Imports haven't ceased yet (there's fears they will) but the foreign makers are also backordered (especially the Russian ammo). Some ammo isn't impossible to find in bulk, but try getting something like 7.62X39 and it's not a fun search...
Went looking for those last weekend (roommate has an SKS)
All we could find was 20packs (Remingtons for $15/pack, Wolf for $9/pack and another Wolf for $18/pack)

Yeah, I'm not shooting my SKS much right now, keeping all my ammo...
How easy is it? How expensive to start up? Have you had any problem finding any of the material needed?
Not hard, you just need to be careful and precise particularly with measuring powder. Cost to start varies, Lee equipment is the cheapest and will do the job. Reloading supplies are also selling out like ammo FWIW but not as quickly.
IMO , the panic buying will slow down in a matter of weeks.
Lots of people went thru 2 stages , buying small quantities for immediate use up until October , and then panic driven " buy a life-time supply right now".
The lucky guys already had a significant supply , the smart guys will get over the panic , and most of the others will run out of money.
Most of the panic mongering is just creative marketing
The gun-grabbers are much weaker than they appear. Smart , peaceful political activity can stop them cold.
Hilarious. Ludicrous behavior. Fools. Drank the kool aid again, didn't they.
Reminds of people hoarding stuff in advance of Y2K.
Fear beats reason in this country every time.
Corporate America and the fear mongers (of all varieties) are laughing at THEM, all the way to the bank.
If Cerberus, or any other bunch of crooks, is buying up gun / ammo makers, it's because they want ALL the profits for THEM, not for regular guys like us who want a few hundred shares in our favorite companies. Cerberus (and Carlyle Group, and Blackstone) have been doing this for years. Bush gave the wealthy a tax cut in 2001, they wealthy sunk their loot into 'private equity' firms, and the private equity shops have been on a buying spree for years, sucking up hotel chains, drug makers, and any firm with an attractive balance sheet and income statement. They take over ALL the stock in these firms, "take them private" as it's called, gets those companies out from under some of the SEC reporting and oversight requirements. It isn't about any coming race war or any government repeal of the Second Amendment or any WIDELY sweeping gun bans (save maybe a RETURN to the assault weapons ban).

We are still winning.
Yea, bout the only industry doing well right now is firearms and ammunition, all the way down to the retail and consumer level. I should have invested in Remington, or DPMS in retrospect. Obamas election has been considered a disaster for firearms ownership, but he has turned out to be quite the opposite in terms of how many firearms owners are actually out there now. The numbers have soared. Firearms owners are surely a force to be reckoned with, politically. The numbers cannot be discounted. Maybe we should form our own party?.
