How would you feel?

When I say universal health care, I mean a single-payer health care system.

How would you want it to be funded? Taxes, coming out of our paychecks, employer's pay for it, a mix of private and public funds?

It really doesn't matter how it's funded as long as "all people" pay into the system. No opt outs.

The savings would be enormous. France is considered to have the best health care system in the World and they are able to provide the service to all their citizens for less than 2/3 what Americans pay to cover only some.

Single Payer Health Care will be a disaster.

Why?

It transfers power to a government protected monopoly.

When "UHC", under the socialist banner, is inflicted upon America, you will see a breakdown in service. There will always be long lines, interminable waiting, shortages, rationing, and denial of service, for the needs of the many outweigh the productive capacity of the few to pay for it, and the few who are authorized to provide it.

If you want true UNIVERSAL health care, all laws that prohibit giving health care or criminalize the treatment of others must be first abolished.
Ditto for "controlled substances" and end the abominable requirement to buy permission before one can purchase medicine.

Scores of Countries have single payer systems and their health care is rated far above what we have here in the U.S. http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html

....Like anything in life, there are upsides and downsides to every choice you go with....

When you add it all up Universal Health care is the best and most humane way to go.

Single payer systems for education seem to work quite well in our country. Why the fear mongering about health care?

The long lines and waiting mean that all of our citizens have access to health care which is the only compassionate thing to do. Lets not let greed be our counselor of human rights and compassion!

Isn’t healthcare a privilege? Isn’t ANY welfare system a drain on everyone and not a benefit? The reason the US has some of if not the most talented physicians is due to the financial gain from it. Whether that’s good or bad it’s true. If we socialize medicine why wouldn’t people just go law school or some other field NOT government regulated and still profitable? Sounds like a disaster to me. Or is that redistribution of wealth? Maybe it sounds like both.

Why don't we put healthcare services on the securites exchange. That way, CEOs of healthcare institutions could make million $$$$/year along with million $$$$$ bonuses also. Then when there is no assests left to either pay the investors or provide healthcare, the government can bail them out!
