I get the impression that the media is biased towards cats. When Buddy the dog was killed, the TV mentioned it for a day and then no more. There were no calls for the flags to be flown at half staff or for the body to lie in state or for an official state funeral. Yet people seem to think Socks the cat should get all this! What do you think? Will you lower your flag for Socks the cat?

poor socks.
18 years is a pretty long life for a cat, though.

No TV (news or otherwise) that I saw mentioned it (I stay away from cable news). Maybe it just the channel you watch or just a slow news day?

seriously it would be a waste of money and time to have a state funeral for a CAT.

There are much bigger issues we need to tackle like poverty, the economy, disease prevention, ending the war in the ME.

I agree but in fairness Socks was "the nation's cat" for many years. While I don't think he should have flags at half staff and be buried in Arlington, he should probably get some form of an honourable burial.
