I think most people are afraid of the desperation of the unemployed, and what depths they will sink to in urban areas. Crime is picking up everywhere if you haven't noticed. People will become more desperate.

Of course people who live in nice homes and continue to be able to put food on the table are concerned.

There's nothing wrong with being prepared, armed FOR SURE, and have a plan if riots break out....which they will if things continue at this rate.

You don't have to be an EXTREMIST to be ALARMED.

The next 4 years are going to be a Soap Opera with this President. Drama and Crisis is in his speeches daily, and it's alway a new one everyday. It's like the Guiding Light. Those that stress easy are going to go to the extreme end of things.

I saw a great graph the other day. 15% of the population is extreme left and 15% is extreme right. That leaves the rest of the 70% somewhere in the middle. You don't really hear too much from us because we don't scream loud enough.

If you don't think those in the 70% that lean to the left aren't concerned about the possibilities of this slide, even though they highly approve of Obama's plan, you are gravely wrong. We have a very long way to go down before all these "programs," if any, will have an effect on the economy.

My educrat, 70 year-old, childless neighbors are asking me about the gun purchasing process and where to get lessons. They detest guns, but are starting to question not having one. People tend to forget there are moderate liberals out there....and moderate liberals have a tendancy to be open minded to possibilites.

And living in the 4 largest city in American, loaded with gangs and Mexican Drug cartels...there're a lot of possibilties.

There's nothing extreme about preparing for "Just in Case." It's like stocking up for Hurricane Season.

And I think you'll find more of the population preparing for "Just in Case" than there are building bunkers and putting on foil hats.

I gotta ask one more thing of these EXTREME Leftists. Have you seen your community go through a natural disaster and what happens when your "Not so fine citizens" are hungry, homeless or just want to plain take advanage of the situation? Did you even watch the Katrina Footage on CNN? Or hear what those people did to crime stats in Houston when they were put up and fed for free?

The difference here is that Natural Disasters end quickly and then clean up begins. Things get better EVERY DAY.......what if the disaster went on and on for months and years? The economy is not a quick fix. The Spendulus passed, are things getting better every day? No, it will take a looong time, if at all, before we see it's effects on the economy.

I think what you meant to say was that you've never seen more "far right Americans angry, frustrated and ready to explode." Clearly the rest of us were driven to thoughts of Civil War during the eight years of the Bush presidency, and now we - a vast majority of Americans (as reflected by Obama's approval ratings) - are now far more optimistic about the future of the United States, despite the horrific damages we have to repair from the past eight years of mismanagement.

Your perspective changes, doesn't it, when you're in the minority?

And it seems many of the policies of the last eight years are being continued or have you not been watching what's been going on?
Have you also noticed Obama's ratings have been slowly dropping? How long do you think people are going to give this government to turn things around? They're only going to allow the left to blame the past for so long before seeing results and I'd bet you have about another 6 months at the most before people grow weary of excuses.
What you keep forgetting is Obama is NOT the only person in government. He's not "yet" king or emperor much to the lefts dismay. There's also co-president Pelosi to deal with and a congress of crooks that never saw an earmark they didn't like.
People are also not going to take the lies much longer. Think along the lines of "I promise, no more earmarks" and "no lobbyists in my administration" and "total transperancy" and "I will not sign a bill until it's had enough time for the public to read it" and more.
How about attempting to fill the government will tax cheats? What's that say about who's been elected and their morals?
If you surround yourself with crooks then how exactly will you be different than them and how is this change you can believe in?
Nothings changed except the finger on the printing press start button and the willingness to push it early and often.

We have 2 million in the military, how many people does it take to control a city like New York for 24 hours a day, men on every corner. We do not have the manpower, the police will be at home protecting their own families if riots, and looting break out. The inner cities will become death traps, especially when food cannot be delivered.

IF the dollar implodes, (possible) and the supplies go dry( possible) and the masses get desperate and looting , rioting and such go nation wide ( the large urban centers are my main focus) it still will not be "civil war". Now folks will of course defend themselves and there will be many Goblins roving about in the resultant lawlessness but that is still not "civil war". What I see as a plausible result of this hypothetical is the Federal Government getting the UN involved to restore order. THAT could lead to an actual civil war (if you want to call it such) because a LOT of folks ain't gonna take to kindly to foriegn troops in blue helmets waving guns in their faces and enforcing martial law. Could such a thing lead to an actual organized military "rebellion"? Do theAmerican people , as a whole, have the ability to get organized in such a way? Good question. There is a lot of variables to consider. Competant leadership being a biggy. Staging, deployment of forces, a real strategy, tactical objectives to further that strategy, intelligence, communications etc. And the time to put all that together. I don't see it happening, personally. We are to spread out and to divided along to many lines to make that happen. IF things go down this road this nation will just cease to exist a we know it. Small pockets of resistance to the "new order" will get mashed and the rest of the population, in a desperate need for someone else to take care of them, will fall into line. Sadly, in such a scenerio, there is not enough organization to mount an honest rebellion and achieve a strategic advantage. Things could be somewhat hot in certain areas for a spell, but the end would be the same , I'm afraid. i would personally, rather go down swinging, so I, and those like me, will be swept aside in the long run. Lol, there are so many "what if's" we can go through but whats really is going to happen remains to be seen.

My dog has free housing, free food, medical care and lives on a 20 foot chain. Question is that slavery, socialism or servitude?

That seems to be the way we are headed.

But no. It's just the tired old left vs right crapola that the fat cats and their media lackeys use to keep us divided and at each others' throats over imagined slights and insults.

Too bad. I was reaady to join up and do my part to help make America a safe place for honesty and courage again. But I can see that no one cares about the roots of our disaffection, and the real criminals in our midst.

So please go on and blame the other side of the "political" debate...
The best post I have read on this thread--truly food for thought. I hope everyone reads and considers!
