I tip all of the above but movers because we never use them. It all depends on the service i received on how much though. Last time we went out to eat the ticket was about 50 dollars but I tipped 20 because my kids made such a mess.
I worked my way through school as a counter man at Howard Johnson's. It was hard, but I knew that I had to work or I wouldn't be able to afford college. Of course, the public is made up largely of childish morons who treat people in the service industry quite badly, so knowing that many of them will stiff these people for their hard work I generally leave a higher-than-average tip.
I tip at a restaurant and it's not always 20%, if I get sucky service, my tip shows. I tip occasionally at Starbucks, I tip my hair stylist, I tip when I get a manicure and that is about it. I know times are tough right now and I know people in some professions work hard and crappy hours but I think tipping every single person you come in contact has gotten very out of control. At least this is how I feel. When I see a tip jar sitting most places I just think that it's ridiculous BUT I do know people work hard I just don't agree that you should be tipping every single person who performs a service for you.
I have one license massage therapists that I went to for a few years before I found out that he hoped for tips. So I started to give them to him. But, y'know, massages aren't cheap. I have another massage therapist who works "with" my chiropractor, but I don't tip her because my insurance will cover her services since it's part of the treatment. And because she's covered by insurance, she charges more, anyway.
I never tip hotel-motel maids. If you leave one aside it would highly be picked up a different maid that day, and I rarely know "who" does my rooms.
But I will tip a clerk willing to carry my heavier bags up the stairs to my room, as was done in a recent trip.
For buffets I will leave a small tip only if I have the same person clear my plates or even bring me a drink.
I tip at all of the above. I also tip the guy who pumps my gas and cleans the windows in the event I am at a service station with no self-service lane. I tip the guys at the carwash too, as well as parking valets. I do not tip at places where all they are doing is serving me something over the counter. I'm tired of seeing tip cans on counters next to the register for places like convenience stores, Dunkin Donuts or some other over the counter establishment.
all of the above..in addition the car wash guys, parking valets
