Irwin is not in jail because he's too stupid to understand the tax code (like Geithner), he's in jail because he chose not to pay.
You got some talking head who blathers on cable TV?

As I said all companies that do business in the US regardless of domicile pay taxes on US based income. Several companies have relocated offshore to avoid many of our disclosure and ethics laws, which apply to their international operations if they are US domicile companies.

I'm not too worried about companies who don't want to do business in the United states. For every one that doesn't there are ten that will jump at the chance.

Toyota/BMW/et al get local incentives to expand their operations here by municipalities. The municipalities get their bailouts from the government, and the government gets that money back in the form of corporate tax. This sounds awfully familiar...

Homer Simpson: Okay, boy. This is where all the hard work, sacrifice, and painful scaldings pay off.
Employee: Four pounds of grease... that comes to... sixty-three cents.
Homer Simpson: Woo-hoo!
Bart Simpson: Dad, all that bacon cost twenty-seven dollars.
Homer Simpson: Yeah, but your mom paid for that!
Bart Simpson: But doesn't she get her money from you?
Homer Simpson: And I get my money from grease! What's the problem?

So companies that are now tax dodging, want to tax dodge more...
