Joe, c'mon, seriously. Can you really sit there with a straight face and say it was the GOP that pushed for relaxed regulation? Surely your encyclopedia reaches back further than 2000? Jimmy Carter started this mess and was perpetuated by Clinton. Fact-check it bro. It's out there for the world to see!

Because most politcain are cons and the people fall for cons all the time/ look back at promises and promises broken with by anyone rinng for office.Dodd has just shown he is another lying politican , First he did what he preached aginst ;then he liwd about it and then he said he was taken out of context;then when caught redhanded he blamed it on someone else;then he spun to say i was a good thing .Now he is angry because he got caught and his troops are in denial.

Absolutely - deregulation is a fundamental of the GOP.

Phil Gramm was a leader is removing Depression era regulations in particular.

It's amazing how people of the left can brush off the shenanigans of even someone like Dodd, because he's a darling of the left. We should call a huckster a huckster, whether Democrat or Republican.

You're embarassing yourself, you know. If you'd done any actual fact-checking yourself, you'd know that neither Carter nor Clinton made any material contribution to all of this. You've bought into some propaganda swill cooked up by Thomas DiLorenzo of the Mises Institute, then pushed off into various self-reinforcing sites within the right-wing disinformation media. Same sort of technique that the tobacco companies used for decades to undermine that silly notion that cigarettes might cause cancer...some people fell for that campaign too...

Deregulation comes in many forms, none of which have been laid bare here. But, let me get this straight. Democrats had absolutely nothing to do with this mess? I believe you have bought into the disinformation-media yourself!

There has got to be big money and a big machine behind those clowns. Barney Frank was re-elected for crying out loud!!! Now he is up there lecturing every one else how terrible things are and it's their fault when his butt was behind most of it.

Well, this isn't the thread for it, but your CRA and Clinton re the GSE's arguments are a crash-and-burn scenario for you. Gramm-Leach-Bliley you can claim as a passive door-opener. That's the extent of it. Appeals to S.190 and alleged Republican attempts at GSE reform are a hoax. So are the YouTube videos you'd link to. There's nobody home where you are.

Like Chris Dodd, Barney Frank has been re-elected over and over again because he has done a terrific job for his constituents and for the country. These are both exceptionally bright and intellectually capable people. Right-wingers like to whine over them principally because the right has nothing else to say or do, and they've got to occupy themselves somehow...

Barney Frank has the intelligence somewhere between Elmer Fudd and Silvester the Cat, and sounds more like the latter.
