It's funny how the winners of each election become the silent majority.
During Bush, it was the ravaging left lunatics filling up message boards saying how our country is being destroyed. Now, during Obama, it is the ravaging right lunatics saying our country is being destroyed.
Yawn.
Or maybe that means moderates are the silent majority.
And what does that say if the majority (in real life) support the current administration and think they are doing a good job?
If anything I have learned since the primary season, its that the Moderate crowd either lurks, or finds it increasingly difficult to find a neutral position without being called ignorant, misinformed, etc. The world of politics on the internet is generally polarized by people who feel strongly one way or the other, the middle ground has no real motivation, and does not engage in debate nearly as much.
When a certain party is in power, it is only natural for members of that part to form a unified mass against the opposition, whether they are right or wrong. For example, under Bush you never saw Republicans wavier for even a second, for fear of leaving an opening for the Liberals/Democrats. That is why you saw party/ideological unification, at least for a little while. I suspect the same thing will happen under Obama, the Democrats will follow along whether they truly agree or not, simply because they cannot show the slightest sign of weakness.
As it turns out, Liberals represent only 22% of the entire voting population, while Conservatives represent only 35%. The radical neo-Liberal and neo-Conservative groups are mere fractions of that.. The remainder includes the vast amount of Centrists/Moderates who really dominate politics of these country. That is why true Liberals/Conservatives are vastly overrepresented on internet forums, and why you do not see as much conflict on this scale in the real world.
i am anything but silent. people are chasing me up and down the threads with duck tape 24/7.
